Come on man. Obviously not everything on Yahoo Answers is 100% correct, but it's nice for a person to get some feedback on their problems before they spend money on a consultation. Most people beleive they already have the answer...they just need to hear it from somebody else.
By your logic, why would anybody ask ANY questions on this site? It's |

attorneys are expensive.
and if it's a simple answer, why shouldn't people help out? i say, use every available resource if it's not hurting anyone. and it's not. |

They don't know the information they're getting is correct. They are simply looking for guidance. And you know, Yahoo Answers has all sorts of people on here. What leads you to believe there isn't a lawyer here willing to help?? What makes you so self righteous? |

Because for some questions hiring an attorney isn't necessary or financial savvy. Sometimes it helps to just ask a few questions and get an idea of the different routes than can be taken to resolve an issue. And not every legal question ends with paying an attorney. Some people don't have the money to blow on a consultation, and aren't aware that many firms offer free consults. And while they can't be sure that the information they get is correct, at least they get an idea of the consensus (i.e. if 5 out of 10 answers are the same advice). |

then why ask if the question YOU asked could get a wrong answer? i guess its because people believe people. |

A lot of people can't afford to just go out and hire an attorney (like myself) and it helps to be able to ask someone their opinion about something. It's up to them what they do with the information. |

I also can not believe the answers some people get too. A person asked how to do a name change on Y/A and how much it cost (California) The answer community gave her the worse info. The answers were all incorrect. Most answers told her to go to City Hall Records department and the filing fee would not be more than a few dollars, I was astounded and gave her correct info. I really cant believe people trust the answers they get. |

why do people post stupid questions on yahoo answers? |
|

Mary C
|
People post legal questions for the same reason they post medical questions...
"I have this problem..."
We would rather hear the answer online for free than to consult an expert that costs us money.
True, the Yahoo Answer may be wrong!
Of course, folks should consult a doctor or lawyer for the answer!
It's just human nature! |

the attornet that handled my divorce was lame. I fired that attorney and represented myself. That attorney was more interested in making money than sound legal representation. Perhaps advice help leads people toward retaining an attorney. |
