No one should be above the law on anything, why have laws then. Using terrorism to do whatever he wants isnt helping anyone. There needs to be checks and balances. |

Most refuse to recognize that "the president needs to be above the law ..." because the United States Constitution recognizes separation of powers and we, in the U.S., tend to accept the rule of law. Our Revolutionary War was, in some measure, fought because of some in England who felt that they were above the law. |

We have to be better than the terrorists who want to take away our freedom. We need to be able to say, "No, we won't stand for this." Nobody is above the law, not even the President. |

NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW-not even prez bush.
a leader that thinks he is above the law is a dictator-he writes his own law and enforces for others but promptly ignores it in regards to himself. |

Is something wrong with you? Nobody, not even the Pres. is above the law. And, he doesn't NEED to be above the law to fight terrorist.
So, let's see, you'd want to have another Sadaam running our country huh? |

Greetings!
You listened one to many minutes of Rush. If you fool the president was above the law, what would make him different from the terrorists we are so called fighting. I say so called because the more we learn, we must wonder.
If this President was so committed to fighting terrorism, why weren't his daughters in Iraq?
Good Luck
Start thinking for yourself,cmon! |

Oddly enough we managed to fight many wars without the need to torture or suspend habeus corpus. Its not like they can't listen in, they can and do, for all but I think it was 17-23 cases. They could even ask for a retroactive warrant up to four days after they did it. So that takes care of the "having to wait" argument.
Torture has been proven to be of little value since most will say anything to make it stop. And the Magna Carta has been viable for several centuries without the world coming to an end.
Maybe we refuse to recognize it because it isn't necessary. Maybe he could try having competent people around him and then paying attention to what they say instead of dismissing them if he doesn't agree with what they have to say.
If hes above the law today, what will he be tomorrow? Can he make up his own law? Would you grant that ability to oh, say, Hillary Clinton should she be our next president? |

Bush and his friends believe that America is always right. It is that simple. It does not matter how many Iraqi's die or how many terrible deaths we cause, in the Middle East, the idea is that we need to win at any cost! Winning is everything to the Republicans.
Of course, What the Republicans seem to have forgotten is winning at any cost is a trap, because you can not win all the Wars.
We can clearly see that Korea and Iran are feeding off each other at this time.
What the Republicans fail to see is that sometimes it is better to fight another day than fight today and lose. The art of Statesmanship is a different thing than the dangerous game of brinkmanship!
We need some real artistry at this time to get us out of the mess we are in thanks to the stubbornness of Bush. |

IT'S UNCONSTITUTIONAL, YOU FRIGGIN IDIOT! You want a monarchy? Then go to some other country. The President IS holding himself above the law and to date, has done ALMOST NOTHING, to fight terrorism! Look at that plane crash in Manhattan...though it was a private plane...did ANYONE even attempt to intercept it??? NO! I rest my case. This whole administration is asleep at the wheel. |

a president who is above the law is not a president but a dictator.HITLER,SADAM,THE AYATOLLAH, MOBUTU,FRANCO, FIDEL AND GEORGE BUSH? WAKE UP.THESE PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO HAVE THE RIGHT TO OPERATE ABOVE THE LAW TO DO THEIR JOBS ARE LAZY AND INCOMPETENT.IF ONE DISCARDS THE LAW FOR ANY PURPOSE THEN THEY BECOME ILLEGITIMATE.IF YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP A LITTLE OF YOUR RIGHTS FOR YOUR SECURITY THEN YOU DON'T DESERVE ANY RIGHTS.Israel ,Britain,France,Spain etc have fought terrorism for years and did not dumb down their laws or the rights of their citizenry to do so. |

Only G W Bush wants to be above the law. But after he loses the house & senate in Nov. he will be below the law & OUR Congressman from Detroit John Conyers will see to it that impeachment charges are brought up. Furthermore Bush wants nothing better than to have us peons eliminated so he can have his police state as he is trying to do now. Nov. '08 can't come soon enough for those of us that are still alive after what this regime has done to OUR once great country. |

OK then we'll give the president an AK 47 and he can go fight terrorism. Will that make you feel better? |

So then you agree that Clinton should never have been impeached right? That the entire Ken Star fiasco was a waste of taxpayer dollars? |

Bush doesn't want to be above the law, he just wants to save American lives.
Some people don't like the idea of saving American lives. |

How can you recognize something that is not true? The president does NOT need to be above the law to fight terror. The so called "war on terror" which is a name for nothing doesn't need to revolve around the president. But then again, the war on terror, as I just said is really a non existant thing so I guess it is more accurate to say the idea of the war on terror doesn't need to revolve around the president, or better yet, needs to be forgoten. What terrorists, the "ones out there?!" ha! |

What????
Terrorism can be fought with the President being bound to the rules of the Constitution. Put some examples or rationale in your questions you dumb tart. |

Because liberalism is a mental disorder that causes most to suffer from Stockholm's syndrome. It's what causes them to want to aid and appease the enemy, and to embrass them so they can better understand why it's somehow OUR fault. That's why. |
