Because it's wrong to kill people?

Because they have proven to be a danger to innocent people. They are vicious and cannot be trained to act right in society. Then you have the people who cry rivers for murderers and rapists, and think they should be supported and given luxuries that some law-abiding people do not have instead of being put to death, even though the way they are put to death is far more humane than the way they killed their victims.

because we can't kill everyone

all people in prison aren't bad and its unfair to say all the mean things people say about some of them if they killed some one just to have something to do or out of hate i say give them death but for defending themselves and the ones they love i say let them go,my friends dad is in prison for life for killing a man that was beating up his mom who is in a wheel chair, and i don't think there is a man out here that wouldn't have done the same thing people that rape children i say hang them but as i said all those people aren't bad but in the eyes of the law they are and most of society reject them before they no the facts and yes its unfair to them but that's how it is

knowsitall
Because they have given up the right to be free like the rest of us. Look at Scott Peterson, the guy who killed his wife Lacy.
I wouldn't want that guy walking around free ever again. Would you?

because what if their was a breake in the case it cleared them of the charges its to late to do anything if their dead already

Kabbob
Because the government makes money off of them.

If this country was concerned with the justice system, they would take the time to make a major reform.

Prisioners who get out won't have opportunites for decent jobs or education. And all they do in prision is learn how to be better criminals. Tell me how that works out?

This country's justice system is based on punishment rather than rehabilitation. Oh and another fact that you should know. This country has the most of its citizens in jail, for every hundered thousand there are 600 (as of 1995 statistics)... more than any other country in the world.

Really, we talk about human rights, and how prisoners should have rights, but what is a life sentence other than a cruelly slow and agonizing death sentence. You say it's wrong to kill people, but really think about what you are saying.

Because the death penalty makes the state (and thus the people) the same level as the criminals.

Because some crimes are not extreme enough to warrant the death penalty, but the criminal is still considered a danger to society.
We can't kill them, but we can't let them go free.

because they will suffer more rotting in prison and getting raped by "BUBBA".

?
Because we'd rather pay $65,000 per year per prisoner so that we don't have to face up to the morally difficult choice of just killing them.

unexpctd_siren
Unfortunately there are some states that do not believe in the death penalty. But these people are either too violent/crazy/sick to be released out in public every again. I would much rather have someone who is psycho stay in prison for 60 years then have them released after 10 because they may never have a chance to get out.

Because if you break the law, you lose your freedom. Simple as that.

murber is bad...10 commentents say "tho shall not kill" no * saying unless they have murdered someone else...

We, as a society, do that as punishment. In a lot of states, there is no death penalty, but the crime committed is so heinous as to never have the person who committed it walk the streets again. Can't kill 'em, so lock 'em up forever. That said, in states with a death penalty, the crime didn't fit the requirements for execution, so life without parole is the harshest sentence that can be given.

Imagine how many better places our tax dollars could be spent if we'd just mass murder every one of them by firing squad.

genler100
well to be quite honest, i think that people that are on death row and are never gng to get out need to be handed some machine guns and go over to iraq and take care of the problem. let them go nuts, they wont or will never do a thing for society so bring some of our soilders home to their families.

adamlaing2002
cuz the do goodeders in charge haven't got the bottle to put them to death, which is what should happen. :>
