Why do black people keep going on about "reparations" ? I damn sure don't owe you for the past of American History. You, and every other person that is a citizen of the U.S. has all the same chances to go to school and work as white people. It's when you keep bringing up the past that NONE of us had a thing to do with that gets really tiring. I have had black friends in my home. I have nothing against a person for being black...It's black people with your attitude that I have a problem with.

Also, black people that keep wanting to go on about American History need to look a little deeper at World History and LEARN that slavery wasn't just here and there weren't just black slaves.

I feel u girl, it's very bad that there is still racism in this world because i was raised to love all people and i don't hate any race. I have seen questions that have said we need to go back to africa and statements like any girl who dates a black man is dirty putting our black men down and i didn't like it at all. Many people on here are getting on you for asking this kind of questions,But what have they said to so many other white people who are doing the same thing.The past is the past and i'am proud and happy that us as black people have came up and overcome many situations and we are still succeeding, we are lawyers,doctors,sports figures,entertainers,pilots and so much more.Like i have said before the problem is with white people who are like that they are just intimidated by us and need to get over it

If you are living your life to prove to white people that your life is worthwhile, you are wasting your time. If your life can't be worthwhile to YOU, then why are you trying so hard?

You say you don't want to be stereotyped, yet you just called a whole lot of white people ignorant.

I believe in equality and taking everybody at face value, while at the same time considering the history of each race, and more specifically, each person. I don't think that people should be treated a certain way because of how their ancestors were treated though, everyone should be treated fairly because we are capable, civil human beings.

Just as you did not personally experience the tragedies of your ancestors, I did not personally commit these tragedies. So why don't we move on and look at each other eye to eye?

Well, you are angry. Don't blame you. My Irish ancestors laid under a burning tent while the Colorado National Guard fired machine guns through their living quarters. I think Colorado owes me something besides a lame monument on some hillside. They owe me something better than a 1980's minimum wage and taxes and water rights that help big business but not me or my neighbors. My problem is I can't talk to these people without loosing my temper. So I sit up late at night and write to strangers. And before you say it, you are right. There is not much comparison between slavery and getting shot at occasionally. I can walk down a Colorado street without looking over my shoulder all the time. It would not be so easy if I was Black. My East Indian Friend was deported back to India after legally working for 16 years and paying $100,000 in taxes last year. He went to the wrong church and looked the wrong color. I apologize on behalf of the people who by genetic accident feel they can consider me their brother. I won't apologize for myself yet, because we haven't met, but i hope we could someday and I hope I won't have to apologize. Take care, and i hope you get some sleep tonight, It is hard to be angry and be strategic at the same time. i hope you are better at it than I am.

I am white, my ancestors came to America on the Pinta and then later on thru England to the colonies. (Those on the Pinta went back). My family has been in the American south for over 230 years at least. When I say south, I mean the northernmost part of the south. My family has never owned a slave. So how much do "I" owe you?

Why should our government pay reparations for something that happened that long ago? Admittedly, our ancestors wronged your ancestors, but what does that entitle you to? After Lincoln freed the slaves, and after MLK, Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, etc, all anyone should ask for in America is an equal chance. A chance to succeed or fail based on personal talents, not skin color. A chance to be treated just the same as anyone else, have the same education, job opportunities, medical care, etc.

The amount of reverse discrimination that happens in America both saddens and disgusts me. I lost a job that I was absolutely amazing at when I was a contractor because I am a single, white male, and therefore am the low man on the totem pole for hiring. I see black comedians doing stand-up about white folks, but no white comedians will touch a routine on African Americans. I see the NAACP, but where is the NAAWP? Why is there a Black Miss America, but if you ran a White Miss America, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would live on your doorstep?

Can't we ever get to the point where it isn't black vs white vs Latino vs Asian?

I answered one question from a white girl, (Who asked why do we hate white people?) and then she got all pissed because she thought I was trying to argue with her. I was trying to counter her reasoning to her question to explain that all black people are not angry, but we will never forget happened in this country. Read your own question in an objective state of mind, and you'll find that you're generalizing objectionable characteristics on an entire race, in much the same way that your question implies that all whites behave toward blacks.
No, I don't have a solution to the "race problem", but I try not to lump any group of people or race into one category. Perhaps if more individuals didn't use generalizations toward others, we might move forward from the status quo that your question implies.

1. You are not your ancestors and you have no right to any material wealth garnished on the suffering they endured. By the way, the proper spelling of "reperations" is reparations.

2. I am not my ancestors and I owe you nothing for any perceived wrongs you claim they may have done to your ancestors. By lumping all people with fair skin into your depiction of the people who mistreated your ancestors, you include many who had nothing to do with what happened.

3. Virtually all "races," ethnic peoples, and religions have been subjected to being "treated like crap" by others at sometime in history.

4. History is time past, it is not for blaming and not for hating, but rather, it is for learning. It is for learning about what was not right with the people of the past and for learning how to prevent such things today and in the future. You can not change history, only learn from it.

Answer: I have and continue to do it all the time. I do not abide by your continuing to divide mankind into segments of skin color. There is only one race and that is the human race. All members are equal. There are good and bad individuals in all the various groups of people and as long as people like you (of any color) continue to differentiate, hatred and bigotry will continue.

Now, the reason why I do not like such questions and misplaced anger from people like yourself.

My ancestors were fair of skin. They were also treated like crap. Tortured, murdered, displaced, and starved, many left their country and went to another country where they were again treated like crap. It never seemed to end.

Now this was in more recent history that this happened because in ancient times these same ancestors were the ones doing the oppressing of others. Human history is full of this. It happens in all ages and if you look around you can see it going on right now in many places in this world.

Until and unless mankind is willing to stop and learn of the beauty and promise of all people, the diverse benefits of including all people in a unified world, we all will lose. Hatred begets hatred and solves no problems for anyone.

30 million Europeans in the total history of the Barbary pirate era were enslaves by Africans while 11 million black slaves were purchased by Europeans from other blacks. So shall whites demand reparations from Africa? Thats 19 million more white slaves that Africans

There isn't a whole lot of difference between a slave and a serf. You would be hard pressed to find someone in America who wasn't descended from slaves. For many Europeans it ended centuries ago. For Blacks it ended 140 years ago. For the Irish it ended in the 1920s.

Blacks have been treated badly in this country. There are still some injustices. But in the last 50 years a lot of progress has been made. The solution isn't to give you money -- it is to give you educations. The opportunity is there if you take it.

If that doesn't work -- perhaps we can let you open casinos. It's been working for Native Americans.

If my white great-great grandmother was killed, raped, beaten, and sold to black slave owners I wouldn't just forget about it. I would also not care. Not even a little bit. Why? Because I never even knew my great-great grandmother. Just like you never knew your great-great grandparents. I think you're looking for handouts because you are. Doesn't matter if you're well off or not. Doesn't change the fact that you're looking for reparations for something that happened to your ancestors which neither you nor your parents ever knew.
