The far Right wing in American politics is extraordinarily paranoid about any international agreements. They are afraid that our participation in such agreements will somehow jeapordize our national sovereignty.

Also, many of the far Right wing in American politics are averse to an agreement that would obligate America to stop inflicting the death penalty on children.

Because we can take care of our children ourselves and other countries have no say in it.

And shouldn't have.
