Why does a country like the US with tens of thousands of gunshot deaths every year allow gun ownership?

Like they say, It's a constitutional right, but men like myself are no longer allowed to legally carry a firearm. No matter who or where one is in Amerika now, one is exposed to the prospect of violence & death. The Police usually arrive just in time to count bodies & take reports, and I have no wish to lie beneath a yellow plastic sheet.

Violence will always be answered by violence, insofar as I am able. Death is the ultimate in Rehabilitation.

Fortunately, I care no more for man's laws than I do for God's laws.

Besides that, I don't heed Humans.

US citizens have the constitutional right to bear arms. It's called the 2nd amendment. If you outlaw guns then only the criminals will have them. Helloooooo........ not too bright are you?

In the same year there where ~46,000 motor vehicle deaths.

Cars are far more dangerous, why do we allow car ownership?

There are 80 MILLION gun owners in America, only a few thousand use them for crimes. Why take guns away from the 79.9MILLION that use them properly?

It is our constitutional right to have guns, but even if they outlawed guns, do you really think the criminals would freely hand theirs in? We don't need to do away with guns, but we do need to do away with criminals. I know, maybe we could just shoot them.

America ranks the 8th in the world in terms of violent crimes. Ahead of it are seven European countries that do not allow gun ownership. So your theory doesn't have any ground to stand on. If someone is intent on hurting someone else it doesn't matter what weapons they do or do not have. There are far more deaths each year caused by drunk driving; should be outlaw beer? More people killed in car accidents; should we outlaw driving? How far do you want the government to interfere with your life?

By the way, the safest town in America is in Kansas. The city council requires all citizens wear guns at all times in public, do you think this is a coincidence?

Owning a firearm is a priviledge that not all should have. But those who are responsible have a right to protect themselves from those who'd seek to kill or rape. Hunting game is also a fun sport.

First: your facts are wrong there are not tens of thousands of gunshot deaths every year in the United States.

People who legally own guns rarely commit a crime with those guns.

Most of the gunshot deaths that we do have are caused by criminals who own guns illegally.

A ban on the legal ownership of guns will not prevent criminals from getting illegal guns and ammunition any more than our drug laws prevent criminals from geting illegal drugs that are smuggled into the United States by the ton every year.

If we out lawed the legal ownership of guns, the criminals would have no more trouble getting illegal guns than they do getting illegal drugs.

A ban on the legal ownership of guns would merely make the illegal ownership of guns by criminals more expensive because the price of illegal guns that criminals buy on the black maket would go up.

A ban on the legal ownership of guns would make it easier for criminals to rob and kill people since private citizens would no longer be able to own guns to protect themselves.

The result is that criminals would make more money with less risk by robbing people.

That would give criminals more money to buy illegal guns on the black market.

We do have over 50,000 deaths each year as a result of automobile accidents.

If we really want to reduce deaths we need to ban the ownership and use of automobiles.

That would really save lives! Nobody would be able to drive a car! We would save at least 50,000 lives per year and this would also help reduce the production of greenhouse gases that cause Global Warming.

Also, the founders of the United States made gun ownership by private citizens a Constitutional Right.

It would take an amendment to the United States Constitution to make the ownership of guns illegal.

The founders of our country made gun ownership a part of the Constitution for a a number of very good reasons.

One of those reasons is the right of a person to defend his life against attackers. Without a gun it is very difficult for most people to defend them selves against a criminal who would kill them.

It is a sad fact of life that in all countries, not just the United states there are vicious criminals who would kill you.

It seems that in all human populations there is a group of people that no matter how well they are treated become vicious homicidal criminals.

The police cannot protect you against a criminal who is determined to kill you. The only person who can protect yourself against a criminal is you.

The tool that you need to defend yourself against a criminal who wants to kill you is a gun.

I see that in your profile that you say that you live in Russia.

I have a number of colleagues from Russia. They tell me that Russia does have criminals who kill people.

Unfortunately the ownership of a gun is not a right in Russia therefore most private citizens in Russia cannot own guns to protect themselves against criminals.

However my friends from Russia tell me that certain favored members of the elite of the communist party are permitted to own guns so that they can protect themselves from criminals.

However these elites apparently do not share this right with the average Russian citizen who also needs protection against criminals.

Why do you think that no other country has tried to invade directly before? It is because they are afraid of our citizens who for the most part are very well armed.

Why do you think that our government has not completely taken over? It is because the citizens are armed and could start a revolution at any time.

Armed citizens keeps the government and foreign enemies at bay.

When you remove a citizens right to protect themselves then tyranny and oppression are not far behind.

Because if we give up gun ownership, the only people with guns still, will be the people we need guns to protect ourselves from! The bad guys aren't going to give their guns up, only the law abiding citizens will! Besides, I want to keep my guns for when the police or government bad guys decide they want to come in my home without permission! I'll give them a welcoming they'll never forget! They only think they can use the patriot act against me!
