Why don't they legalize drugs?
Find answers to your legal question.

Why don't they legalize drugs?

if we legalized drugs it would eliminate drug dealers, cartels, and the government would be able to help the economy by taxing them. Is is really because of all the money that politicians make by fighting the 'war on drugs'?

just to be clear, i am not a drug user, nor would i start using drugs if the laws changed. it just seems like common sense to me. a good way to end the violence and corruption.

It wouldn't eliminate the dealers, etc.. but it certainly reduce the numbers.

its because of the "image" of legalizing it... people will think its ok. Also, the amount of money and people tied up in it is enormous. bearaucracy at its finest...

look at other countries where its legal.. the problems dont exist like they do here because they take the money from the sales and put it into education against the drugs

more added:
pregnanct people can still use drugs (and do) now.. the legality of drugs doesnt stop people... so thats not a good argument

as far as growing it... that would be legal as well.. as long as your arent selling it. even then, it would probably be like a parking ticket... no jail

the jails would be cleaned out!! 1000's of people are in jail for possession.

Edited again...
Pot has been studied PLENTY. they know the effects, the results, the good, the bad... the government grows pot for study (its called G20 and its daaaaaaamn good ****!) so that theory is gone too.

ahh, but violence and corruption is what the government thrives on. so it must happen in small steps.

Actually, Marijuana has not really been studied enough, since overly conservative politicians view it as a bad thing. Nobody really knows if it's good or bad for people. People who have tried it and like it generally say that it's a positive useful thing that we should exploit. Even people who don't like it say that it could be used in positive ways. It is so misunderstood that we probably won't see any definitive information about it any time soon. Much research needs to be done. We need to start trusting scientists who only want to discover and reveal facts, and not silly opinions. That bieng said; Other opiate-derived drugs are very addicting and damaging if abused.

Lemme show you this. Marijuana, I could grow that in my back yard. How the hell is the government gonna come tax me selling that to my neighbors? Yeah, makes sense now doesn't it?

If drugs were legal there were be a lot more impaired driving going on and more drug related deaths. Our economy wouldn't really be helped by Joe-schmoe selling coke to his friends.

Was your question even serious?

Drug dealers, cartels, they rely on the drug trade to make money. Why on Earth would they stop doing what they do if the practice became legal? Would these types stop slinging drugs and go get white collar jobs? No! Of course not, they would continue, and be more prolific than they've ever been.

It's not safe, and do you want pregant women taking drugs, producing messed up children?
