Why don't we have real freedom in the USA?

You point out some very real problems. The thing I like about the US is that yuou can point out those very real problems. While it is true there are other countries where you are allowed to do so, there are also a lot of places where you are not.

I do not excuse our violence and I believe our lack of health care to be criminal. However, when I see problems such as those it just tells me it's time to get to work. We can solve those problems, it isn't going to be easy but it can be done.

You're not talking about freedom. All of the above instances involve people who are free to do what they like, but choose the wrong path. Other factors are to blame. Low wages are partly because illegals come here and lower the working wage for legal citizens. Guess what? We're so "free" that we let illegals come by the millions and negatively affect our economy. What needs to be done is enforcing our current laws. A black person cannot be arrested for being black. Pulled over? Sure, but good time trying to prove it was racially motivated. When I'm pulled over, I don't cry that it's because I'm Native American. And if a black person is arrested for "protesting", what exactly did they do to warrant an arrest? Turn to violence? I've seen it time and time again, someone thinks they're being a freedom fighter by causing even more crime.

hell yes I love it here. almost have my bachelors degree. In my cozy house. Making enough money to have a nice car, plenty of food, new clothing, my puppy.

You just outlined some social and economic issues the USA has. And they were valid.

They however had NOTHING to do with freedom.

Where I live, Small Town USA, I sleep with my doors open, I leave my Bicycle outside and it doesn't get stolen, It's great.

The freedom the USA gives you is, The freedom to Move, Relocate or plainly , Get the " F " out.

Travel small mind, I have...and I will tell you , The USA has issues, but Freedom is NOT one of them!

So you pick it all the bad things and don't give us a source? I love America. It really is the land of oppurtunity. I am going to college so I will get paid more, I pay for my own insurance, and I don't commit crimes. You live up to your own mistakes in the end. America isn't responsible for that.

wtf is wrong with this guy for real I'm black and i never got pulled over on a DWB dude every nation has it flaws nothing is perfect but if u don't like it get the hell out of the US cuz it most like don't like u neither 2ND if u don't wanna work a low paying job take your sad as* back to school and get a higher lever ed. oh and the the smart blacks that have alot they do go to college it's call a scholarship. and the US is great wouldn't want to be anything else besides American .

you've been watching too much MSNBC. True this country does have it's flaws but how many countries have you been to outside of this one? In comparison to many of them we are the best. You can be a minority (or even white nowadays) and commit a crime and just claim it's because of the color of your skin that you are being arrested and most judges will forgive you... isn't that great. We have millions and millions of dollars that go unused in the department of education each year because those poor people who 'cannot' go to college just flat out do not bother to apply. And crime in heavily metropolitan areas is not exclusive to the US but how would you suggest we deal with crime? In fact how would you suggest we deal with anything you complain about.. it's easy enough to say something is wrong but it's so hard to come up with new ideas right? These are the problems one faces when living in a capitalist society, but at least you have the freedom to make your lot in life better, as long as you have the will to do so. We as a nation also have the freedom to change much of what is wrong with this country the problem is, most people refuse to put themselves out when it is so much easier to let things happen than to make things happen. So my point is that we are not perfect, but we are closer than most and if you don't believe that go abroad and try to do anything we take for granted here. Spit on the ground, litter, flip off a cop, urinate in public, and many other things we take for granted... and in many places see how long you end up in jail and then say we are not free.

What does health care have to do with your freedom? Are you are suggesting that being FORCED to pay for universal health care through higher taxes is a requisite for freedom. Remember, if it wasn't for the government, you would be able to afford health care without the government.

answer to your questions.... No health care (Whats Medicaid).....22 Thousand shot dead (Probably bvecause of restrictive gun laws).... $9.00 jobs (Then add all the Govt. Subsidyies to those making $9.00 and it comes out OVER $20.00).... Arrested (Cant do the time dont do the crime)....Driving while black (Same race card pulled all the time .....Stop speeding) College Education (The Middle class cant afford college but the lower classes get all the scholarships)...Detroit (Thats simple people using their freedom to live where they want)

Then why do we have thousands of people crossing our borders each year to live here? We may not live in Paradise but most of us have it pretty well. Go to Darfur, Iraq, and 100 other places I could list and complain about how bad the US is. I have a feeling you will be laughed at.

Why do you feel that the US owes you. Don't you think it's time for the poor of this country to quit making excuses and get off their collective butts and stop feeling like they're being victimized?

the truth is... nothing you mentioned has to do with freedom... although things you mentioned are WRONG and unjust, it's not "freedom".

You point out all the bad things but the USA has a number of good things. As a matter of fact, the good outweigh the bad in my opinion. if i were living somewhere else, i would still say it is the best country and i would try to get here. the thing is we DO have freedom and that's what makes us so great. no body is Forcing us to do anything we don't want to do and actually that may be what's causing the crime and the "poor" to not get in college. so much freedom! that almost seems like a contradiction to have "too much freedom"

but to sum up everything... the WORLD is not a perfect place and all the things you've brought up is gonna be around WHEREVER you go! the world is not perfect and never will be! the only place you're gonna find perfection is Heaven.... since you want so much perfection... you can go there if you want... lol ;-) but seriously... all of the things you've mentioned are close to, if not, impossible... so take it for what you want but USA is not the perfect place but it's the best place out of the options we have... :) *KP*

First off, lots of people don't use your definitions of freedom and therefore wouldn't agree with your synopsis. Certainly the idea that one is hampered by crime won't show up in websters.

Secondly, "fair" and "free" aren't related.

Third, 9 dollars an hour here compare to a dollar a day elsewhere ...

I agree that the US has major problems. I agree that our economic freedoms are hampering our other goals (such as equality) ...

I agree that generally we despise socialism so much we are willing to give up a lot of human dignity just to prove a point.

But I'm not going to pick on the word "Free".

Many of the things you listed in you loosely tied argument contradict each other.... I would love to explain to you why the country we live in is so great, but I don't have the time to educate the mentally incompetent.The only advise I can give you is that if you feel there is something wrong, change it. You have the freedom and power to change things. This country's history is full of such individuals both good and bad.

Well u know what if it's so awful then why don't u go chill down in Cuba with Castro?
Go live in Africa where millions are dying everyday from AIDS, go live where theres never anything to eat.
America is a wonderful country that really has great freedoms.
We don't have a dictatorship like North Korea for example or other countries in Africa.
The Law even gives TERRORISTS the right to FAIR trial even though they deserve to have THEIR heads chopped off.
I'm white and live in a "white" area never seen black people pulled over for driving.

And get ur facts straight before judging a whole country on one persons actions or one mistake.

We should have the freedom of not going to school and sinces when did teachers have the rights to scream at us if their not our parents??!
