What if it was like a VERY skinny, weak 13 year old girl who was raped? she may not be able to survive the pregnancy. don't get me wrong, i am against abortion, but i can see why some people want it to be legal.

I completely agree with you that people who consider having an abortion should just put the baby up for adoption but a lot of cases when having the baby is just not an option and the mother has to have an abortion. And anyway even though I don't agree with abortion it's still not the governments place to regulate abortion.

I will try and answer your question without addressing the underlying reasoning behind your view that abortion should be illegal because it is the murder of a living baby.

Abortion is legal, because the United States Supreme Court in Roe vs. Wade ruled that women have a Right to privacy and can make decisions regarding their health care. As a fetus is within the woman, the woman can decide to terminate the pregnancy.

The United States Supreme Court did not look at whether or not the fetus was alive or not, just whether or not a woman has the right to make decisions regarding her medical care. However, abortion is generally not legal after about 27 weeks of gestation, at which time the fetus is usually viable, meaning if delivered, would probably survive.

i think it is living when it has a heartbeat. a cluster of cells is not a living thing. And yes, it does become a living thing later.

I believe (and dont bash me on this) that life is precious, but when a woman decides to have an abortion it is very clear that she is not mentally ready to carry the child. What if she doesnt care enough about her child to eat right and not drink/smoke, so when the child is born, it has multiple disabilities.

i think abortion, although extremely immoral, should be available. we dont know all the situations out there. a woman could have been raped and forced to bear that burden for 9 months. i believe that it should be legal so people without options have an option. i know that i would never have one myself, but for those who are less fortunate, its available to them.

Quite frankly the answer is simple. It's the MOTHER's body. The mother is also alive. As for putting the kid up for adoption, there are millions of kids up for adoption already that can't be placed because there just aren't enough homes for them. Some kids are better off dead.

Its legal up to a certain term in the pregnancy. After that it is considered murder (to my understanding). It depends on whether or not the fetus would be able to survive on its own outisde the woumb.

And it is legal for many reasons: rape of the mother, inability to carry a healthy baby to term, high risk pregnancies, etc as motivations. It is also legal because it allows us to regulate the procedures, saving the lives of the women that undergo abortion.

If a woman feels the need to have an abortion, she will. Have you ever heard of clothe-hanger abortions? Unsafe, unsanitary, deadly in many cases for both fetus and mother.

that is not proven at all. in the beginning it is a sac of undifferentiated cells, which could actually have been (and could be) used to SAVE the lives of people who are living--if we didn't have such a hypocritical president and administration (in the US).

because people are selfish and dont want other people to know that they are pregnant because they arent ready to have a kid or they dont want it and dont want to go through a pregnancy. Abortion is wrong, I dont know how doctors can do that to someone and I dont know how a women can do that to her own child....it makes me sick......

In some things the govenment should not stand up to. Children are like puppies. Helpless at birth and need care. There are many cases like Rape, etc. If a woman does not want the child, it will be in a much better place if she doesn't give birth. Love my child, but would have never given birth if not prepared to take care of it.

I agree with your solution. However, Roe v Wade came along and the know it alls decided that it was a woman's right to choose. Thus the fetus lost. We work constantly to override Roe but so far no such luck.

Abortion should be legal because if it wasn't then a lot of women would go to very dangerous places and get the fetus taken out with like a clotheshanger or something- which puts both the baby and the mother in an extremely dangerous situation. It is MUCH safer to just let them choose to have it taken out in way that is safe for both the baby and the mother or to put it up for adoption.
