End The Fed!!!
|
B/C the government HAS to maintain an upper hand on society. This is their outlet to do so. Why do you think prohibition was instituted in the first place? Despite it being totally against what great thinkers like Abraham Lincoln advised.
ADD: I'm with Kim Chim on this one!!! |

Cocaine ??? I think the real question is why is cannabis illegal ?? |

Because alcohol came before cocaine, the constitution, and probably before governments and lawyers. |

I am not sure

the U.S cant afford to have both drunk people and high people driving |

This is an excellent question. Why is alcohol any different than any other drug. The answer lies in two words, "lobiests" and "inertia". Alcohol is "the first drug". Some guy one day ate some spoiled fermented fruit and had a good time. It started then. And if I could use the knowledge that if I let something moderately spoil it will, not only get people in a condition they like, but they become addited, why wouldn't I hire the best people to keep this situation legal. Second, It's just the way it's always been. Even the highest sources abuse at times. It human nature. |

The totally cynical (but somewhat realistic) answer is that alcohol is produced in the USA but cocaine is not. |

Comparing coca leaf chewing with cocaine use is disingenuous. If you knew what went in to the processing of leaf to powder, you wouldn't try to make this point. |

Alcohol is legal because prohibition showed us that outlawing it doesn't work. Not that the "war on drugs" is working either. |

Because people have died the FIRST TIME with cocaine.
Not so with alcohol or cannabis. Those get addictive over time and eventually kill you if you abuse them. |

The legal status is not important - people still can get them both - what's important is why on earth people risk alcoholism and addiction to cocaine. I would not touch ANY drug including cannabis or cigarettes. |

The reason is because the Government have to look like they genuinely care. It's either one or the other for legalization.
You see, if they keep cocaine illegal, they are seen to care and keep face. To keep alcohol legalized is to keep the money rolling in but keep that fake caring image. Think about it, cigarettes shouldn't be legal either but they make a hell of a lot of money. |

Just like a few posted above me.
The American government cant make any money on Cocaine!
If they cant make any money on something, they make it illegal!
Ive seen more lives ruined from alcohol than anything else in my life, but who cares as long as big brother makes a profit! |
