Why is it that are so many murders in the USA despite gun control laws?

Guns are too easy to get and criminals do not care about any laws. Some of the killings are done by so called "good citizens."

Murderers are criminals and criminals don't follow the law.

Criminals have easier access to guns than law abiding citizens.

Gun Control is only out there to make the criminal's job safer. Shame on all of you who are against the 2nd amendment.
Gun's don't kill people, people kill people. It's CRIME control i'm concerned about, not gun control.

Gun control laws only hurt those who are willing to follow the law. If more "good guys" had guns, I really think that there would be less of thses public shootings, as they would be shot before too many got hurt. Give the good guys less control on guns plain and simple

Amazingly, there were plenty of murders before the invention of the firearm.

Gun control only applies to those that obey the law.

Usually, people who kill are not worried about laws.

Combine the drug trade and thousands of illegal weapons available on the street and you wind up with a lot of murders. I see it nearly everyday on the local news here in Balitmore.

If a gangbanger is willing to kill another person (against the law) why would they stop at using an illegal weapon, bought illegally from another criminal.

Criminals do not follow the laws. If you want to stop the murder...Give every law abiding and able US Citizen a conceal carry permit or just stop restricting the 2nd Amendment and let them carry a pistol and training. A few things could happen...Less murders because bad guys do not like getting shot back at and will be scared....The murders would turn into justified homicide for self defense reasons, and if you really want to scare bad guys make them afraid of the courts again. 10 year minimum for a crime committed with any weapon. Life if some is hurt or killed during the crime.

This site will explain it all:
http://www.gunowners.org/fs0404.htm

Or maybe this cute video might shed some light on it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwvCRnRFPrk

A couple of professors, John Lott and David Mustard, at the University of Chicago studied this phenomena and concluded unequivocally that in those areas where gun control was the strictest, crime was the highest. Conversely, in those areas where people are allowed to carry concealed weapons, crime was the lowest. That video illustrates why.

The top 3 of our nations most egregious mass murders involved no firearms what so ever.
1. The Happy-land massacre in the Bronx was perpetrated with $1.50 worth of gasoline and a match. Over 150 people lost their lives.
2. The Oklahoma City bombing was perpetrated with a rental truck and ammonium nitrate and diesel fuel. Total cost to Mc Vie- less than $1000.
3. The debacle on September 11, 2001 was perpetrated with 4 airliners by a group who had planned well. How much are flight lessons?
Gun control laws do have a direct correlation with the murder rate. Australia and Great Britain are learning this now. Statistically, the more stringent the gun control laws, ( meaning the harder the government makes it for LAW ABIDING citizens to acquire firearms ) the higher the incidents of rape, robbery, and murder.

Gun stores supply them through straw buyers. outside of the areas covered by the gun control laws.

Take a good look at where most of the murders occur, in the stricter gun control areas and in "Gun Free" zones. Virginia Tech is a good example of the workings of gun control, the total ban on guns on campus saved nobody.

Actually, if you look at the stats, murder rates and violent crimes have gone DOWN in areas with less-restrictive gun laws in America. This has led to the lessening of several restrictions over the past few years.

Strict gun control laws only serve to disarm law-abiding citizens. Criminals are going to get them regardless of the law...why should they be better armed than me?

Look at the crime rates in the UK...there's what strict gun laws do--the criminal knows you can't effectively fight back.

Gun control laws are written by liberal politicians who need votes, and since they don't know how to actually reduce crime, they unconstitutionally restrict ownership by law abiding citizens. Gun control laws have absolutely nothing to do with reducing murders or other crimes!

Also because our prisons are full of non-violent drug offenders, in the name of our ongoing "war on drugs", while violent criminals are given probation and parole. If all victimless crimes were decriminalized, we would be able to have our police departments focus on violent crime.

We don't have very strong gun control laws in most places in the US. In the states that have stronger laws, guns can be easily imported from states that are more relaxed.
