Why is my friend arrested for simply living in his own home?
Find answers to your legal question.

Why is my friend arrested for simply living in his own home?

My friend built a house from scratch, spent hours upon hours upon hours building it to perfection. He tailored the house to fit his needs and there's no house more perfect for him.

He then sold the house in an urgent need for cash when he couldn't pay off his other financial debt, to avoid bankruptcy.

Angry that he got a terrible deal on the sale, he wanted to repurchase the house he sold. The new homeowners said "we are not selling the home back to you, it's not your house anymore."

Angry and furious, the old homeowner sneaked back into his old home through a back window and refuses to leave the house.

The new homeowners called the cops and now he's arrested for living in the very house he build all by himself??? How is this fair :(

I still think it's unfair. He worked so hard on the house. It's his house, he knows the ins and outs of it like nobody else.

The window he sneaked in? He knew it was the best sneak route because he himself built that window.

He and his work cannot be severed by pieces of paper currency.

Uh, it's not his house. If you'd bought that house, you'd sure think it was fair then, huh?

Wow, I can't believe you need to ask this question. He sold the house. If he got a bad deal, that was his choice.

Some car company built your car. Would it be fair if the chairman of the board from that car company came over and drove off in your car? After all, they built it.

The End
What do you mean his house,he sold it so it is no longer his. That is how it is fair.

wizjp
C'mon. HE SOLD THE HOUSE. Under American Property law; at that point it was no longer his.

Troy H
When you sell something, it's no longer yours. Therefore you can't retain possession of it.

Vbonics
Because now he's trespassing. Which is illegal. If the house is no longer in his name it doesn't matter who built it. Those people purchased it fair and square, it's not their fault he got screwed on the deal. He got arrested for doing something illegal.

Because he sold the house.

Once the sale goes through, he no longer owns the house.

It is not the buyers fault he got a terrible deal, he accepted their offer.

You have to be joking!!??

OK.. lets say you went to Tesco and bought an apple, when you got out of Tesco a farmer approached you and took a bite out of the apple. To your astonishment you asked him what he was doing. So he replied "Oh last year I grew these apples at my farm".

Which person do you think was in the wrong the farmer or the person who bought the apple? This will answer your question!

smedrik
He sold the house, it isn't his home anymore.

It is like me selling you my iPod and then refusing to let you listen to it because I want to. How would that be fair?

Can the people who made your shoes come take them off your feet after you paid for them?

You answered your question when you said he SOLD the house. The property is no longer his. The new owners had every right to consider him trespassing. It's unfortunate, but that is the way it goes.

Do I really have to explain this. Common sense would tell you what the problem is.

He sold the house and transferred ownership, any moron could understand that he doesn't have any rights to it now. He is trespassing on private property and should be arrested for Breaking and Entering. Could you borrow a car from someone you sold it to without permission?

David S
You're kidding, right? ¯(º_o)/¯

"Angry that he got a terrible deal on the sale,"

"Your friend" is the one who agreed to the price "he" got.

"He" sold the house, therefore it is no longer "his".

Aisha
he sold it.

once a store sells you something, they are not allowed to ask for it back.
if the store owner came to your house and refused to leave, i think you'd also call the cops.

your friend shouldn't have sold the house in the first place if he wanted it so bad.

he sold the home

it's not his

Happiest Athiest!!!
He sold it, it is not his house anymore. Are you stupid? OLD homeowner, not CURRENT homeowner.

Even though you find it unfair, He signed the house over, the people who purchased the house handed him a check, and in return they get a legal piece of paper that says they own the house and the keys to the house. That would be like saying the carpenters who build your house can still go into your house and live in it because they built it, even though you purchased it and own it. Your reasoning makes absolutely no sense.

No Names
I honestly can not believe you are asking this question. Your friend is in the wrong, he sold the house, transferred ownership, and signed the papers, that is his own fault for selling the house at a low price.now he is in jail for breaking and entering and trespassing. Your friend is lucky that the owner of the house didnt shoot him or beat him up, the current owner has a right to do that, to protect his property. You even said it yourself, he had to "SNEAK" into the house, you would have to "SNEAK" anywhere if you are in the right. its called common scence, get some.

Thank you and Goodnight.

its not to often you see ignorance rolled up all in one person, how old are you anyways?

cadi1463
Ok so its obvious the both of you are not very bright. So like the last twenty people who answered ya he sold his house and agreed on a price he is no longer the owner. Maybe this well make you understand you own question. You buy a house a few weeks later the previous owner returns to your house the one you just bought the house from and he then breaks in to your house and refuses to leave and tells you I built this house its mine even though I sold it. What do you think you would do I doubt you would agree with this Moron or would you. You and your buddy are idiots.

He built it.

He SOLD it.

He is trespassing. End of story. No one is required to sell it back to him.
