Why is sentencing and corrections so wrong in the criminal system?

Why is sentencing and corrections so wrong in the criminal system? How difficult is it to sentence a criminal? Why is sentencing and corrections so flawed?

Because they've gotten the idea that hardcore criminals can be "rehabilitated" and they want to "give them a chance". That's malarkey. Criminals should have a lot longer sentences and their conditions while inside should be a lot harder. We never had these problems when the penal system treated criminals like the animals they were.

lets put it this way... you are putting criminals in a big locked and secured building to cohabited with other criminals... if anything i believe jail is a way of teaching criminals the tricks of the trade in committing crimes... there is nothing rehabilitating about jails i believe... not to mention that your locking these people away from the people they need most in their time of crisis.... their families... justice isn't just about retribution it is about rehabilitation just as much as retribution... no man or woman is born a criminal, its society which shapes them to become such things... and society needs to do more to help these people from commiting crime...
