Come to San Francisco, you can smoke it on the street in front of a cop. Construction workers smoke it on their breaks. |

So we don't waste a huge amount of police, legal and prison $$ to lock up people that are smoking pot or providing pot to smokers.
When was the last time you heard of a pot head going on a wild killing rampage?
It can also turn into a profitable enterprise for government where they can collect taxes.
It will remove the criminal element from pot and move it to legal channels of distribution
It will allow police to concentrate on more dangerous drugs |

We Spend Billions a year locking up pot heads.
Caffeine and Cigs are more harmful for your health.
I think it should be handled like a speeding ticket. Small amount you pay a ticket, after so many tickets you have to take classes.
Dealers and traffickers should be handled more strictly.
Why spend the time and resources locking up pot heads. |

Cut and paste this in the Search for Questions section above and then you can answer your own question:
How can I get my boyfriend to stop smoking weed without being a nag?
Clue: there are none |

If Marijuana were legal the Government could TAX the hell out of it and use it to make money instead of using our Money to Fight against it.
It would help Cancer patients to eat. It could be used to create Ethenol. Hemp could be used to create Rope, Paper, Clothing, etc.
These are just a few of the reasons why Marijuana should be LEGAL. |

........ :]

It shouldn't |

1. It won't kill you. Seriously it won't. There has only been one case of overdose, but this guy smoked it 24hrs a day 7 days a week.
2. Has medicinal properties that are useful to some people.
3. Isn't any more dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes which are legal.
4. We'd stop a lot drug trafficking and the product could be regulated. Which means police can focus on other things that are more urgent. |

It would eliminate a complex, absolutely perverse, persecutional, revengeful and corrupt police state apparatus to punish people for minor infractions. For some alleged "drug", only mentally handicapped politicians fear that it is against the health of the society! |

1. It's not harmful. Marijuana has never been shown to be physically addictive. As recreational drugs go, it is probably the least harmful. We all know someone who has ruined his life with alcohol, but with as many as 1/3 of Americans smoking marijuana 'habitually' at one time or another, does anyone know someone who has ruined his life on pot? I sure don't, and I know a LOT of pot smokers.
2. Economics. Marijuana grows like a weed--literally. It could be grown in economically depressed areas (like the South). The govt. could tax it 1000% and it would still be cheap. If you paid $20/oz for a package of pot in a liquor store, $19.00 of that would be tax. 8^) And people would still be happy to buy it.
3. Victimless crime. The purpose of law is not to legislate morality. People should have the right to do whatever they like so long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. Pot has never been shown to contribute to crime, except in the buying and selling of it.
4. Gateway drug. Pot is accused of being a 'gateway drug', meaning that people start out on pot and graduate to cocaine, heroin, or whatever. In fact this has never been shown to be true. In places where pot is easy to get, most heroin/cocaine/opium addicts do start on pot. But in places where pot is hard to get, most of them go right to the hard stuff. But there is one way in which pot does act as a gateway drug--you buy it from the same guy who sells the hard stuff, so one day he says 'Hey, I'm out of pot today so why don't you try some of -this-?'
5. Crime. During prohibition, not only did alcohol consumption actually rise, but organized crime got rich and powerful. Mobs grew so powerful that they corrupted police departments. Juries were reluctant to convict people because everyone on the jury drank alcohol himself; they didn't think it should be a crime. If pot was legal, organized crime would lose a huge amount of profits, instead they would go into taxes for things like roads, education, etc. |

Just do some research. Don't go by the biased opinions you receive on here. But I will say, it is outlawed for all the wrong reasons.
Edit; The people who are against it should at least provide this girl with facts as to why it should remain illegal; or are you guy's even capable of that? Most people who are against usually give no reason except for "it makes you dumb" which is completely invalid and idiotic. The reason a lot of smokers' seem "dumb" is because most of the time they are "dumb" before they begin smoking. I have been smoking for over a year now and just recently scored a 33 on my ACT. So just do your own research and don't listen to these fools. |

So that we can stop wasting so much money on preventing people from selling drugs illegally. We'd be better off.

It causes cancer........that should be enough
Edit: you tell me, why should it be legal? I know how it feels having someone you love have cancer (TWICE!). Im not going to say who it is but trust me, it's a terrible feeling. You never know if that person will be alive the next day or not. It's not the same type of cancer but it is the same type of feeling people around you feel. |
