because it is a women's choice to to what she wants with her body. aren't we granted the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness? like it or not, i think abortion falls under those rights. i'm sorry that people may not agree, but that is what makes america so great, is that i have my opinion and you have yours and they don't have to be the same.
just to say this, i have a one and a half year old and, at one time, i considered abortion. i realized that it was not the right choice for me and i had my daughter. even though i didn't make the choice to terminate, i was glad i was given a choice. |

Because a woman has a right to choose what happens to her body. |

Uh, because the US is supposedly a free country where a person's body is their own. |

It already is. Because women have the right to reproductive choice.
Because criminalizing abortion doesn't change the numbers of them that occur, it changes the safety level of the ones that do.
Why should it be illegal? is a far better question. |

I really hate my job...

I am COMPLETELY pro-choice. Here are my reasons.
1. There is NO way the Man is going to tell me what I will or will not do to my body. If I want an abortion, I should have the right to do so.
2. There are many women who are put into very violent situations, in which a baby is not wanted. The woman involved should have a right to abort an unwanted child.
That being said, I completely disagree with using abortion as a form of birth control. If a woman gets pregnant willingly, she needs to come up with a plan. I don't think that abortion should immediately be 'the way out'.
Also, I really don't think I could ever go through an abortion. I don't like the thought of killing something that's growing in my body. HOWEVER, if I want to do it, that's for ME to decide. I should be able to at least have the option.
Besides, if men were the ones getting pregnant, this would NEVER be an issue. |

People should have a choice about their own body and to prevent back room abortions that people have died from. Making it illegal doesn't mean it doesn't exist therefore making it legal makes it safe. |

So that we have no back alley abortions. |

Because when it was illegal thousand of Women died each year getting amateur abortions done. It was pretty nasty business.
Kinda like Prohibition. Well intentioned but it was law most felt could be broken, and it created lots of criminals |

It should be legal. It is a womans right to choose whether or not she has a child. No one else. No one is going to help her take care of it ---- welfare included. This is supposed to be a free society, but is it really if the government regaulates everything we do... |

Because a woman has the right to control her uterus and the government does not. |

Yes, because you have the right to choose to have the baby or not. |

Are you seriously asking this question, or do you want to see all of the controversy that comes of it? |

face it- abortion is going to happen no matter if it is legal or not. aka.. women stick metal hangers up there, you get the picture. it's much better for a doctor to do that |

As much as I don't like abortion, we have to keep it legal because women will use other methods that will not only kill the unborn baby, but the mother too. The back alley abortions were horrendous and until there is more work to stop the pregnancies in the first place, this is something that has to be endured. |

I have to first say that I strongly believe that I could never go through an abortion.
That being said, I do NOT think that it is the government's job to say what someone can and cannot do to their own body. I believe that your body is the only thing you should have complete and utter control over. It is an invasion of privacy (like the Supreme Court said in the decision of Roe v. Wade). |

It is legal.
It is an elective medical procedure that women should be able to access legally & safely by a trained medical physician... vs. still wanting the service and going somewhere that isn't safe.
Just because it is legal doesn't mean everyone has to do it. . only those who need/want it.... It is for everyone's safety and protection. |

Not only should it stay legal.......it should be used as birth control if someone wants to. The world is way over populated......I wish that some of these "pro lifers" parents would have used this form of birth control. |

I'm going to get yelled at for this, but oh well. Abortion should be legal because we live in a society were people have the right to choose what is best for them. If the government can choose what you can and can't do with your body then what will be after abortion? Next you won't be able to have plastic surgeries or dye your hair. But I don't think that abortion should be used as birth control. maybe it should be regulated by the government. Like if you have more than one, you have to get your tubes tied. I've suggested that before and it has not been well received |

Abortion was legal before Roe v Wade.
There is nothing in the constitution that addresses abortion.
It is something that should have remained within state laws.
Each state has the right to control what is legal within their state as long as it does not impact interstate commerce.
Before and after (if Roe v. Wade is reversed) abortions will still be legal.
It is something that should be decided by each state, not the federal government. |

I am in two minds about this, at the same time I think it is wrong to bring a child into this world, if it isn't wanted. |

If your daddy raped you and you got pregnant, would you want to have the baby? |

There are only two options -- the individual makes the decision whether to be or remain pregnant -- or the govt gets to make it.
If the individual does not have the fundamental right to choose -- meaning the govt cannot make it illegal -- then not being able to choose means the govt can make abortion mandatory just as easily as it can make it forbidden.
Personally, I don't think the govt should be allowed to make either choice -- which means it has to be up to the individual.
Besides, as I'm sure many other people have already noted -- making it illegal doesn't prevent it from happening -- it just prevents it from happening safely. |
