Why is it a wrong to hold someone responsible for their crime?

I'm not saying that rapists should be executed or beaten, but surely they should lose their liberty for a while.

Most frequently people believe that rape is a crime of passion, it is not. Rape is a crime of hatred and dominance. The rapist who is not caught and punished is being told that society agrees with them and supports them in their crime. These people need to be punished, so they will know that this is an unacceptable act, they will not be free to do it again, and the person who was raped has a (very small) bit of justice for the crime and life long damage that has been done to them.

If someone violates a woman's right to choose who she mates with then they should have there right to roam freely in society taken away. I don't see how punishment for a crime is a wrong, it keeps our society secure.

Everyone knows what the punishment is for crime. Rape is a horrible crime, and people understand that if they do it, they get punished. The two wrongs don't make a right theory is invalid in this case because it is not wrong to send someone to prison for a crime that they committed, knowing full well that it was a crime. Rape is horrible, I hope you never have to experience it.

Punishment under the law. That is not a wrong as you put it, but rather a corrective action taken on behalf of the people by the government for an offense against societey.

Being punished for something you did wrong is not "a wrong," as you put it. It's a JUSTICE handed out to correct an injustice that has been committed.

Punishing a rapist is not a "wrong", so the bumper-sticker philosophy falls apart right there.

The only "wrong" of punishing a violent rapist is when they are not executed for their crime.

because they have damaged someone. They have physically battered another human being and broken them psychologically. Due to the very nature of the crime they should be whipped and thrown in a vat of alcohol, taken out and whipped again, doused in alcohol and then set on fire. Then locked away for at least 50 years.
