Why won't the government admit that Osama Bin Laden is dead?

The guy hasn't put out a video in years, the audio that has come out could be from anyone, they have disbanded the group tasked with finding Osama in the CIA and the list goes on. My opinion is that by leaving the door open that he is alive the republicans who are seen as better at fighting terrorism will have a better chance at the polls. On the other hand so called terrorist would never admit that he had died because they would lose instant credibility. All they have to do is release a message saying it is from Osama and the whole world hears it through every major news network. Would they give that up? I doubt it. It seems for those in power now it is politically helpfull to continue this lie.

I have no proof other than all the audio that has been released has been poor quality but other Al Quaeda have released well produced videos that look like that have been professionally done. Secondly Osama needs daily dialysis something he can't get hiding in a cave. Third, it's been 5 years since 9/11I think he would have had the time to make at least one video since then. Why should I have to produce evidence? Give me some credible evidence that he is still alive other than static filled audio. I doubt there will ever be pictures, if this guy was in some cave and was hit by some bunker busting bomb then he is dead and buried. Is the fact that the CIA disbanded the operation to look for him not evidence enough? Some of you folks act as if the government never lies. Does anyone remember Colin Powell in front of the UN saying there were mobile weapons labs and we knew exactly where they were? I only say these "so called terrorists" because I have no fear of them whatsoever. He is dead.

It seems the government is only interested in making money anymore with the republicans in office. I saw a bumper sticker the other day that said " 2008 - The end of an ERROR". Now that's funny. But instead of the war in Iraq, it should be the war with Al Queda.

It's gonna look really stupid if they say he's dead, and then he comes out of hiding or wherever, and does something else really heinous.

One, he realeased an audio tape the other day talking about the thankful death of Zarqawi. As well, the second the Bin Laden is killed, most of the people in America would assume that the War on Terror is over, when in fact it has just begun.

I say follow him, watch him, keep him alive and wipe out the people that go talk to him, their followers and so forth and wipe out the whole network.

Your question is ill-informed and immature. What's more, anyone who would use the phrase "so called terrorists" is not worthy of a serious response. There is nothing "so called" about it. Islamic extremists are, in fact, terrorists. Note that I did not say all Islamic people. Nor did I say Islamic fundamentalists. I am talking only about extremists. These people sever human heads. There is nothing "so called" terroristic about that. It's just plain terrorism. As for why the government doesn't "admit" that OBL is dead, perhaps that is because he is not dead. Now go read a book.

They have no proof that Osama Bin Laden is dead. Everything is just a presumption. Rather they should look for him and find out that he's dead then stop the search and learn the bitter truth through an attack.

The enemy needs a face. And that face is Osama. If he is dead, they aren't telling us to keep us in fear so that we don't stand up together and protest the daily erosion of our constitutionally protected rights. Just a few days ago, a video was discovered and they are saying that Osama was on it and confirmed that it was his voice. However, just like the first men on the moon, that could obviously be faked.

Show us all proof that Osama is dead. All you are doing is making this stuff up. I would rather be cautious and assume Osama is still alive then just pretend to believe he is dead without any proof of that fact.

That's an interesting conjecture.

If you have pictures of his dead body, I know you'd make millions from the global press. That's why I believe he is alive. Someone would have come forward for the money. The government can't be hiding it. Every fart in Washington is leaked to the press.

For Al Quada, his death would be good too, as his martyrdom would be big news and drive thousands of desperate, hopeless people to join them.

Well, apparently, he's not. All those audio tapes he put out have been run through by a voice-recognition device by the CIA. Now, whether this is propoganda is another argument, but I do believe that Osama's still alive.

You also make a good point about the Bush Administration wanting to keep him alive so that they'll have an extra excuse to invade more countries.

He isn't dead. They would have had a public viewing of the body for all the world to see if he was! Don't you remember when Saddam Hussein's two sons, Uday and were killed? Their dead bodies were paraded on primetime.
