Ugh, that's a shame...
People don't deal with certain tragedies very well. |

I am sure that many people feel that his decision to use drugs wasn't an accident. Accidently or not, he killed a young girl. This doesn't make people feel any better. Many people have tough lives, there is no excuse. I hope he has found his way. |

Your question was one of the saddest things I have ever read in my lifetime. Such a tradgedy for all involved. May he R.I.P. |

I'm sure everyone has their personal reason. |

If I knew the boy I would go to the funeral unless I couldn't get off work for some reason. He was obviously troubled, and it's sad that he felt it necessary to end his own life... |

I guess they don't want the trauma of the thoughts of their children suicides so they avoid all of them at all costs. |

I wouldn't. He was on drugs is not an excuse, he knew full well what he was doing (unless HE was drugged unknowingly). He killed a 15 yr old girl after fixing her with drugs? How do you think HER parents feel?
You see, I usually don't have much sympathy for people who commit suicide. Now, I've personally known two people who committed suicide. One, he was a 76 yr old man, who was dieing of cancer, and basically had nothing left to live for. He served his country in Vietnam and left a FANTASTIC note for his son. My hats off to him. But I knew another guy who committed suicide because he was a gambler and was in debt. Now, his surviving family (wife and 14 yr old daughter) are the ones who have to deal with his debt. I refused to go to his funeral and I feel that he took the easy way out instead of being a man and stepping up to his own mistakes. |

Because there are a vast number of self-absorbed, "holier than thou" , judgmental people who don't understand that funerals are meant to console the loved ones left behind (not the deceased) |

That's too sad. |

If he committed suicide and was not killed, there is a good reason noone came to his funeral. Suicide is a pathetic SELFISH way to get out of something bad in your life, or just get attention. if i committed suicide, i would NOT want anyone at my funeral! its ashame. people grieve for a while the they move on! its not like they will be put on natonal news! |

they might not know what to say to the relatives, in order to try to console them. |

Just because the child is 17 doesn't mean those who do not attend the funeral are bad people. They could be Catholic, family members of the person he killed or there could be any number of reasons.
Simply answering that people are wrong not to attend a funeral, regardless of the reason is a bit shortsighted. |

I think some people still believe suicide is the ultimate of sins. Maybe they didn't show up because of that reason. |

There are many reasons people may not go to the funeral. Some may not go because he killed himself, some may not go because he was in jail, maybe the people weren't that close to him, etc. Everyone has their own beliefs/opinions, so it's really hard to say for sure why they wouldn't as it could be a different reason for every person who didn't go. |

Many people hold a grudge for a long time, especially when it deals with someone else's death. Could you forgive someone who killed one of your kin? Wither it be accident or not? You have to ask yourself, if one of your children or brothers/sisters "murdered" someone.. would YOU go to their funeral? |

Maybe it has to do with religion. Someone that has killed themselves has taken away the most precious gift and that is the life that God gave you. So when someone commits suicide they aren't allowed to hold a funeral for that person, sometimes, depending on the religion, they aren't even allowed to be burried in the ground. I had a friend who had to be placed on one of those walls that they have at the cemetary. So maybe his family and other people didn't attend for religious beliefs. i'm so sorry to hear this about your friend. I went through the same thing with a friend of mine when I was 16 and it was hard for all of us. |

there should be no such charge as a accidentally killed while on drugs because you know before you take drugs it is like a loaded gun so the charge should be murder and the ones who sold the drugs should face the same charge as to the funeral thats the human factor |

I dont go to funerals for any suicides. I believe its a fools way out and a cowardly act. No matter how dificult this kids life is, I'd bet I can find someone alive that has been through worse. |
