Why would police arrest people who are dependent on drug selling?
|
Drugs that are found in ghettos and places like that are usually sold so a person can eat and live or feed their family. Some drugs are found in suburbs. So why not find drugs from people that don't need to sell them. Then take them and arrest people who need them.
Where I am going with this is that police insist on patrolling ghettos and such looking for drugs that people sell to feed themselves or their family. While they could be looking for them in places that don't need to stand on them.
Drugs may be bad, but when someone can't find a job and they can only sell drugs why would you rest him and leave their family to die.
Also for those people who are going to say drugs kill people. So does cigarettes and alcohol.
Why would police insist on arrest people who depend on their business then other places?
Also please do not say murder for money. I said drugs, because they are more common and is an alternative. Murdering people is very wrong and you don't have to kill for money. Murder is nowhere in this question.

Because drugs are illegal. It may not make sense, and a lot of people don't agree with it, but as it is right now, it's against the law. And the police have the duty of upholding the law. So they are just doing their jobs. Not everybody sells drugs to feed their family. Some people sell drugs because they have no ambitions of doing anything else, they don't want to get an education or work hard. They want quick and easy money. So you can't say it's ok for people with families to sell drugs, but not anyone else. And you can say that drugs kill people (i'm not talking about marijuana). Crack, cocaine, meth, etc. are dangerous drugs that aren't regulated by any agency and can kill people the first time they use them. So they need to be controlled. I think you're on the losing end of an argument because not many people are going to agree that selling drugs is the only way someone in america can make a living. |

Quite frankly, those who sell drugs also break other laws. It is a basic policy of public safety. |

People arrest people who deal drugs because dealing drugs are illegal. The police arrest people who do illegal things.
Get off the street and look for a job. They're out there. |

Where is the justice in a system that allows one person to sell an illegal substance because they were unfortunate in life, and "need" money. Get a job at McDonald's. |

My first instinct was to respond that your claim that its necessary to sell drugs to feed your family is pretty pathetic. But, giving thought to your basic idea, why is it illegal and specifically targeted in "ghettos", I think I might be able to give you a better idea.
You mention cigarettes and alcohol also kill people; true. But I've yet to hear of anyone die from their first cigarette or drink. Just because these things provide a slower death than the risk of overdose, doesn't make them right, I agree. I've heard of people stealing to get cigarettes and alcohol, but statistically, the incidence of people involved with illegal drugs stealing to support their habit is overwhelmingly higher. You say that murder for money isn't the issue, but in reality, isn't it? Any dispute over issues regarding something illegal obviously can't be resolved by the police or by the courts. Let's not even touch on the fact that most dealers tend to dabble with their own stock, at the least, and therefore tend to be as incapable of a rational, logical thought as anybody they sell to. Drugs alter a person's consciousness, legal or illegal.
So, ok. You're saying the cops should just let drug sales continue unabated, in ghettos. What laws apply to one, apply to all. So, basically, you want to make drugs legal, right? How many of these poor. unfortunate, "recreational pharmaceuticaletical sales representatives" do you think would be in business if the government legalized, taxed, controlled, and regulated the drugs they sell? I'll give you a hint - none. They would look at it as a "real" job, have to pay taxes on their income, get a license to sell, and keep hours that would probably involve getting up before afternoon. If they had to do that, they might as well get a real job.
As to why ghettos are targetted; I guess cutting off the source doesn't make sense to you. I suppose you feel its a problem that only afflicts the people who live there. |

Because by selling drugs in a ghetto they are making a serious situation worse for entire area.
If a poor person is spending what little money they have on drugs then its making a poor area even poorer. You can say that hes selling drugs to support his family but his "business" is slowly killing the other families in the area.
I don't know if you wanted a real opinion or if anything I say could change your mind on the subject but its the truth. |

Well for one thing, the drugs they sell a lot of the times are sold within the community. Those using drugs can't hold jobs especially if they screen for drugs. If its illegal its illegal for everyone. I think that if someone wants to get a job to feed their family they can find a job. I always see signs for fast food places that are hiring. Then there is always going back to college. I know they need money for food but if they are in the ghetto and possibly on welfare, this would be the time to get themselves together and try to make a better life for them and their family. This is why we have second and third and fourth etc...generation welfare and drug dealers because somewhere someone needs to break the chain. Welfare does not pay as much as drug dealing but if education was attained then the drug dealer could change his or her life. The problem is that they like the amount of money they make and are not willing to do things by the law so, they get arrested. Selling drugs is not a business..its an epidemic. Drugs have taken many lives daily. |

because finding drug dealers in bad neighborhoods is like shooting fish in a barrel its easy. you wouldn't actually want the donut eating cop to get off his fat bleep and actually do work would you. lol (its a joke calm down :)
from my experience even those selling drugs in nice neighborhoods are also doing it to make ends meet. i don't think anyone says i want to be a drug dealer when i grow up. its something that happens cause you need the money usually. however when i was in high school there were a lot of kids selling to look cool. so maybe go after them, problem with that is then you have the angry soccer mom who says oh no not her son and freaks out. really police should go after rapist murderers etc. and leave the drug dealers alone. |

You are anwering your own question, but you are telling us not to give you these answers. I guess these same people won't mind when pushers are selling these drugs to their family members( grandchildren, nieces, and nefews) They same people that they are saying they are selling drugs in order to feed their family. I see people, selling gas, landscaping, babysitting, working at Walmart, why is it that pushers can't find a job??? But let's talk about double messages. Our soldiers aren't allowed to bomb the poppy fields in Afganistan because that's the way Afghanistans make a living. Selling heroin to kill our young people, so they can feed their people. No wonder you're asking this question. We sure are a mixed up society!!! |

Makes sense to me.... |

I would think they arrest those drug dealers because its only increasing the spread of people using drugs and the cycle just keeps going and going. The person selling the drugs should stop and go find a job. They all brought it upon themselves.
And i do believe they do patrol the bad parts of town all because they dont want the drugs to get spread to everyone.
Im not sure thats what you were asking, but i tryed my best. |

Drugs are illegal and not only hurt the people who sell them but also hurt the ones they sell the drugs too. |

drugs are illegal, do the crime do the time.
Cigarettes and alcohol feed the economy sadly so eliminating those would cause a massive drop in the market, which is why they're both still legal |

Its illegal and drugs cause violence plus must of the people that get arrested for selling drugs would rather go to jail and get fed then be on the street. Would you let people sell gun or steal for money? |

What they are hoping is that the person under threat of arrest will point to a dealer who can then point to an larger dealer and so on up the chain. In real life that doesn't work out too well but that is the intention.
They also sometimes can trade that threat for a clue on where a weapon used in a recent crime came from and hope to get closer to solving that.
So the person arrested is more often a means to an end, not the final target of the arrest. |

They may be trying to support their own family for whatever reason, but they're hurting 100X more families in the process. How could you possibly justify that? |

Because the people that buy these drugs often buy them for cheap. They then get sold outside of the ghetto. Also, why do you tihnk crime rates are so high in ghettos like Compton and Detroit? Because the people are often high and commit these crimes under the influence. Also, battles are often fought over drug territories and popular selling corners. Not to mention drugs breed hat, crime, violence, and deterioration of the society. There are 10000 more reasons, but im not gonna waste my time. There are always other ways to make money, so stop being a liberal and follow the law. |
