Will A Lawyer Represent Me If I'm An Anarchist?...?

The question was brought up when I was walking, I'm a free thinker. But yeah, will the lawyer represent me if I'm an anarchist?...because anarchist ARE like screw government and go by their own rules...

Yes. You are right that lawyers swear to uphold the government and Constitution. However, the rules of professional ethics are quite clear that a lawyer does not personally adopt his client's position. Think about it: a lawyer may not personally adopt the views espoused by a member of NAMBLA or the Black Panther's or the KKK, but that is certainly no barrier to representation. Lawyers advocate for their clients - which is totally distinct from agreeing with their personal philosophies or condoning their actions. Every single accused person, regardless of politics, citizenship, etc., still enjoys the fundamental Constitutional right to representation.

If a lawyer joined an anarchist group, it would be very likely be grounds for being removed from the practice of law.

As long as you pay them, a lawyer will do what ever you want.

By the way, most lawyers do not work for the government, so way would they care.

Yes for money, and for more money, they will even sell you out!

Lawyers will represent anybody who can pay them. That is their job. Lawyers- excluding public defenders, do not work for the government. They work for private law firms.

yes of course. Lawyers represent murders and child rapists. They are not going to discriminate against your political view. Deep down they just want your money.

If you have enough money there will be no problem in getting a lawyer no matter who you are.

ANYTHING FOR MONEY SO YOUR GOOD TO GO.

yes

adam_arielle
umm... you would have to appear in court.. which would be following the rules..

so you would therefor not be a true anarchist.. so your whole theory is very flawed

You're not much of an anarchist if you're asking the law you're opposing to protect you.

I used to be an anarchist. If we were in trouble with the law (I never was) we were not allowed to accept plea bargains.

Caliban
Yes, if you can pay the legal fees.

A question for you. Why do anarchists obey traffic laws like wearing seat belts and stopping at stop signs? The laws are government mandates.

Even Hitler had lawyers.
