183 people died in Iraq today without a shot being fired... outlaw guns, people will find other ways to kill people. |

I hope not, guns don't kill people, it's just an instrument that is used! |

It'll try...succeed in changing anything? No. It's not the guns..it's the people!!!! |

They should do as they did in Texas after the 1993 Luby's deranged gunman shootings. Allow concealed weapon permits. It might make you think twice someone else might just have a gun |

they'll try. possibly make it more difficult for someone with a criminal record to have a gun. It won't work, never does. |

well you know they are going to try.....and chalk it up to those democrats......It wont be long before all of our rights are taken away from us....and next they will have the right to come into our homes when ever they freaking feel like it.....So lets keep voting for those democrats everyone and you will see what happens when our freedom is taken away |

There are so many gun control laws right now, that not all are enforced. The only thing you cant control is the people. This kid had purchased a legal weapon, and used it when he went off the deep end.
Criminals would still use fake id's and such, or just steal the guns from legal owners.
No, we don't need more gun laws, we just need to enforce the ones on the books and standardize the laws from state to state. It was said that if one person in the building would have had a firearm, the slaughter could have been stopped. One person said they had one, locked in their car, lot a good that did.
As a police officer, I can say that I have never worked a successful home invasion where the homeowner had guns available. I can also tell you that in 22 years, several elderly people, who had weapons at home, and used them, are alive today because they fought back.
I work more fatality accidents than shootings and no one is trying to ban vehicles. |

Same as always. There will be more time wasted on debates. Ultimately, not much, if anything will change. I live in VA. I'd say two out of every three guys I know love to hunt, and love their guns. |

democrats in congress will try to appease the bleeding idiots, oops, i mean democrats, by ranting and raving about how they were right all those years ago about gun control. The problem is, they have not and never will come up with an idea that actually helps anything. I have a feeling that the incosiderate hilary clinton will use this as a campaign platform, as will obama. McCain may actually use it too.....
Its sad when politics overshadows the tragedy of death. |

Government control is the last thing we need. This is america and we don't need our govt. babysitting us. |

If the liberals have any say in this they will take away another constitutional right and aide and abet the criminals. The criminals get all the laws in their favor. The rest of us are just there to believe lies, listen to propaganda and vote to further demoralize and threaten our beloved USA. |

I sure hope not.
The sort of people who do these things are not the type to be constrained by laws. After all, it is illegal to shoot up a building full of people but that particular rule didn't seem to stop this lunatic. Guns are merely tools. It is the intent and actions of people that do the killing. As Americans we have the right to have these weapons. Let's not go trashing our rights in an overreaction that will solve nothing.
While I generally hate a cliche, this one applies. "If you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns." I don't want to live that way. |

There is nothing you can put into place to keep someone, without a record, from going ballistic at some point down the road. This kid bought the weapons, cleared the background check, and for all intents, was legal.
No one would have thought he would go nuts and kill all these people. Guns don't kill, people who are crazy and drunk, use guns and cars to kill, but no one outlaws cars do they??? Its illegal to drink and drive, but that doesn't stop the drunks from getting behind the wheel.
In my job, I see the end results of the Saturday Knife and Gun club, and the mechanized death on the highways every Friday and Saturday night. And yes, more people are brought in from car wrecks than gunshots. |

I hope you never lose a loved one to gun violence.
but maybe you should put yourself into the shoes of someone who has. |

I hope so, Jim!!! At least they should make it more difficult to get a weapon...have them do training classes or whatsoever..I have no idea, but I want more safety for all of us!!! |

No, they won't because the tragedy runs deeper than gun control issues. gun control people and gun freedom owners are the goofiest people in this country and will spend forever making stupid remarks like this. |

No. The NRA is a strong organizaton for one. And the other reason for no is America relies on the market for money. I wouldn't want gun control. But there should be the 10 day wait period to release the gun to a buyer to prevent like crime of punish murders and of course the background check. |

Being allowed to own a handgun or assault rifle without restrictions isn't a constitutional right. Virginia has one of the worst gun control policies in the Country. Whether or not gun control similar to the rest of the Country would have stopped this particular incident doesn't change the fact that allowing people to buy a hand gun or assault rifle without even having a waiting peroid isn't a smart idea. |

It would be so much harder for a psychopath to kill 32 people without a gun. That's common sense.
A constitutional right to mass murder ? |

Read the constitution again...

I hope they do regulate guns more. |

I doubt it. They'll wait until there are more people killed. Lots more. If guns weren't so easy to come by, killers wouldn't have any and you wouldn't need a gun to protect yourself. Vicious circle. |

The NRA has them paid off. |

That so called right is over 400 years old or something and was for life in the 1600's. It totally doesnt apply to an age where people are supposedly civilized. When are Americans going to realize that more guns is NOT the answer - GUNS ARE THE PROBLEM!
Wake up morons. |
