Will the record of my arrest be visible to police and background check?

I got my case dismissed on Tuesday for a misdeameanour. I wasn't present in court but had a lawyer representing me. The act and hearing took place in the US but my home country is in the UK. The lawyer has just contacted me to tell me that although it was dismissed, I would need an expungement to seal the records.
My question is: Will this be shown up to police and background check in the UK? Because I don't plan on going back to the US.

It will show up on a background check conducted in the U.S., but your record for the U.K. will be clear. |

Yes it will show up that you were charged. I'm not sure if they bother putting in the dismissal of charges, but the addition of charges is a sure thing. |
