Will they drop my traffic ticket in court?
Find answers to your legal question.

Will they drop my traffic ticket in court?

I had an accident in which i was at fault for, at the time of the accident i did not believe i had insurance, but come to find out that my policy was still in effect. However i told the police i didn't have any at the time of the incident. Since i did have insurance and the damages were paid for would they drop the "fail to provide proof of insurance" when my court date comes around? I live in Virginia if that helps anyone any

I have one ticket that says only and I quote

"Fail to show proof of Insurance"

There are two different issues. Not having insurance and not having it with you. The with you part is minor and will not be dropped, because you did not have evidence of it at the time of accident. The not having insurance part, which in fact you did and have proof of, should be dropped.

Edit: Yes, this looks like it is for not having it in your possession. Ordinarily when they run a check on your license it automatically shows your insurance (if you have one) this looks like a ticket for not having it on you. But bring this up to the judge's attention.

You should be able to have that citation excused, Take your proff os insurance and explain that you was nervous at the time of the incident.

You didn't say which state, so I can't address the charge directly, but as someone posted, the most likely scenario is they will drop the charge (if it isn't there already) from Failure to Have to Failure to Carry (different states word the charges differently so it's hard to tell for sure which one you have). You may want to request a letter from your insurance carrier that confirms coverage on the date of the incident, it will speed the process.

Failure to carry is a paperwork no-point violation almost everywhere as far as I know, so you will just pay a moderate fine.

They will not drop it. My mom has had lots of expirience with that, and she would go to court a few times and they would never drop it. Same thing happened with my other friends mom.
u have about a 5-10 % chance that they will drop it
