It would eliminate the drug cartels source of money and their incentive for violence. We have proof of a similar strategy working to stop alcohol gangs.
Additional Details
If someone could buy marijuana at the drug store, why would they buy it from a criminal? People no longer buy alcohol from moonshiners.

It would cut into the marijuana profit. I think it would make a difference.
It could also be taxed by our government. And there would be fewer dope smokers in jail. They could be out being productive citizens instead of costing us money to support in jail. |

Do you seriously expect that drug cartels would just stop doing what they do if it became legal?
Alcohol is different, it's a little more difficult to make. |

Legalization prior to eradication of drug gangs will cause more violence and more death to innocents. The solution is to kill the guilty (drug lords), THEN legalize the drugs. |

Afghanistan's heroin to Mexico, Columbia's cocaine to Mexico, world's superlab precrusor pseudoephedrine to Mexico to make crystal meth. Marijuana is a very large trade for cartels, and if it's cheaper to buy legal then maybe help but it can be dangerous for the health. Cartels are all through U.S. now and they are Mexicans, illegal and legal. They run the drug trade here exclusively, and they should be routed out and dealt with. There will always be victim drug addicts as long as there are drug dealers, there evil is subtle and preys on ignorance. Drugs came BEFORE drug addicts! WHERE IS OUR GOVERNMENT, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING! Oh, they are letting drugs come into jails by their employees as I was told by the horses mouth, so jails enable addicts and dealers! |
