About 60% of people in prison are in on non violent drug charges.
We should decriminalize marijuana. It would save money, allow for police to be more efficient in their enforcement of other laws, free up prison room for violent criminals, and expand personal freedom and liberty.
We should have learned this with our failed attempt at alcohol prohibition. The problems on our southern border and in mexico are alcohol mobs all over again.
But yes, changing our drug laws would definitely allow for a revolution in our prison system. For example, we could easily abolish the death penalty and have ample room to store these people so that if their innocence is ever proven down the path of their life term, they are free to go and not a murdered person wrongly convicted. |

Yes it would cause it would save the prisons alot of money and room by not housing the marijuana smokers and them focusing more on the violent criminals.
Marijuana does not make anybody violent and the majority of the pot smokers does not go out and commit crimes to support their habits unlike the other drug users, I would much rather see a crackhead in jail over a pothead anyday |

It would do nothing to prevent jail overcrowding.
The day that illicit drugs are allowed is the day our youth is doomed.
There is no benefit to drugs and for all those drugos here I believe it is time you re-thought your lives and please exit this question due to hidden interests.
Drugs can easily be dealt with just as smoking as well. They do no good to the human body full stop. If anyone is a dinker(thinking for dummies) go and talk to your local GP or have a look at the Hospital and see what they have to deal with after a overdose, car accident or violent attack.
No Drugs = No Dummy. Simple as that.
