Would this be a Federal crime?

A man goes to Hawaii, grabs a random resident off the coast of Honolulu, forces the person into a bag, then forces the person against his/her will onto a boat to Alaska.

In Alaska, the man throws the victim at a Grizzily bear, killing the victim.

The suspect then flies back to Hawaii and has a party. Then the Hawaiian police coordinate that a missing person was the same body found in Alaska.

The man gets arrested but claims he's never ever even been in the 48 connected states his entire life. Even so, has he committed a Federal crime? Or a state crime, or other?
