As long as it's not electrified - a No Hawkers sign should be legal. Try putting your door bell push 190cm from the ground. Only answer the door when people ring the bell - and not when they knock. Kids who can't reach the bell push will get fed up and stop bothering you. Try a sign on your door knocker saying danger 230 Volts if that doesn't work. Connect it to 230Volts... no better not - need to know what you're doing if you're going to electrocute kids. |

i suppose you could as long as you did not offend anybody, by saying certain religions, or races may not touch, but if it were just general like no salesperson, or so on I don't see why not. |

It would be better to be fairly general i.e. No salespeople, no religion etc rather than naming people or companies or specific religions etc. Even if it is private property you could come unstuck legally if you went too far. |

You can put a sign up but would it not encourage people that you don't want to, to touch your door even more. |

And I WAS COMMING OVER TO VISIT, but since I can't knock, well I'm staying home..... |

sure, I see no reason you can't hang such a sign on your door, for example "No Mormons or other door to door religion types" and "No soliciting, including no pretend environmentalists, no pretend college kids selling magazines, and no scouts or school kids selling me overpriced stuff I don't want anyway!"...sounds like a fine idea |

i don't think so. |

Well it's true that your door is owned by you, but it's there to protect your property inside. You put it there to stop the intruder but you can't stop a person to knock it... I think. If the person outside is not damaging your door then you can't do anything, since you are exposing your property (your door) by your wish to the outside world (out from your house). |

of course, just write a note and say to people like , religious orders, door cangassers etc, do not knock on my door or else you will be offended by our remarks, perfectly legal |

Some towns have ordinances against racial remarks on your properties. |

It's legal.... but not necessarily binding.
Why, what would you do if a non-approved person touched your door?
Technically they have already broken the law by trespassing if they are on your property against your will... whether they touch your door or not. |

Of course it is legal. You said yourself, it is your door and therefore legal to do with as you darn well please. Put up the sign, heck paint it purple. It is your door. |

YES BUT YOU MUST REMOVE ALL WAYS TO OFFER THE "OPEN INVITATION" WHICH IS DEEMED IN LAW FOR PEOPLE TO CONTACT YOU |

cant see that it be illegal however it may be easier to list who can touch your door more than who cant |
