Where is 16 legal? You know everyone WILL HATE ME for saying this. But as long as your not his mom or dad, he is going to smoke anyway, it's going to make his life harder driving to the ghetto to buy ciggarettes at that place who sells to underage people and jacks up the price. Tough choice. |

I'm 15 years old. My friends who are also my age always gets cigs & alcahol from people that are old enough to buy them. I don't smoke myslef, but i wish the adults would stop buying my friends the cigs and vodka cos it recks their health. |

Around here the just upped the ante. You get caught buying cigs for minors. You get busted, the minor gets busted, his parents get busted, and the store gets busted. |

I've got a little sister who wishes she still had full lung capacity. She'll never be able to play a sport and she has to carry medicine with her at all times. When your lungs are young and still growing, they're much more vulnerable to developing asthma.
Most of the relatives in my family who have died, died from heart disease. Doctor ordered them to quit smoking and they could not. My family is very close and this is always a tragedy for everyone in it.
I'm sure other families were not as effected as mine are, but these are facts man. This kind of stuff really happens. |

I used to get my friends to buy me cigs, and I don't blame them, but if he is your brother you should discourage him from smoking. I quit, and I am glad to be free from that addiction. |

No it is illegal. People who do that are violating the law and should go to jail. |

i wouldnt do it, its encouraging people to smoke at a young age if you make it easy and buy them for an underage person.
also i wouldnt wanna get in trouble-(go to jail)
SMOKING KILLS!!!!!
also smoking casues problems for people who dont smoke. those who smoke around others (that may or may not smoke) are putting their lives at risk aswell. and its not fair that us non smokers shud suffer from the smoke of others.
cant wait til the ban comes into place of smoking in public |

When it comes to being fair about smoking, our government is the most criminal of all. In my town, the health department has ruled that it's illegal to smoke in a business unless you are a bar that 80% of your profit comes from alcohol. This is not only bias but it's illegal. I have a business and they are telling me that I can't smoke in my own business. To that I say "Zeig Heil"! they have turned into the Nazi movement of the 21st century and this is only the beginning unless someone does something about it. |

Anyone who smokes, no matter what age, is going to buy cigarettes. Believe me. They are going to either nick a few from your pack or nick a few bucks laying around. Come hell or high water, smoke they will smoke. There is no stopping them.
It gets worse when there are drugs involved. Then they will openly steal and sell your property.
Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that all smokers go off on the drug thing, but it is basically the same - addiction. |

No, I'm not going to jail. |

This depends on personal morality and as the goalposts are being moved by the government i can see the problem. We all know about the dangers of smoking but the message is not being heard by young people and as a result the law has been changed to try and protect their health. When i was 16 and started smoking i could go and buy them anyway as there were no age restrictions for buying them so perhaps i would as i understand the addiction and withdrawal but i would not be pleased with myself for doing so because my conscience would have been challenged.A word of advice...when you get to my age 46 you will wish you had never started.I promise. |

Think about this ...seriously ! No you absolutely shouldn't .Why not ? 1. the Law says NO. 2. It may have been legal before but now the Govt. realised it's responsibility and is acting upon with medical evidence.3. It may even give yr younger brother the opportunity to give Up ! 4. you are already a smoker, perhaps can't give up coz u r already addicted and don't have control over it - whereas you have a Choice &control over NOT buying it for him and Finally and most importantly, he's your YOUNGER bro....isn't it yr responsibility NOT to contribute to his early demise ? Do what your Heart tells you .... |

No I wouldn't. I started smoking when I was twelve and I had to buy them myself. Its the same with underage drinking. I don't buy booze for my sister who's underage but if she manages to sort herself out them I'm not going to give her grief. Part of growing up is making your own choices and bucking the law accordingly if you can. Its a bit harsh for your bro as he's currently legal but hey - llifes a b*tch.
If I was in your position I wouldn't buy packs for him but would tell him if he's really desperate I probably wouldn't notice a few going missing from my pack if I left it out. |

Although the law is supposed to be impartial and fair a lot of people don't think that is the truth. Unfortunately if you buy cigarettes for your brother you will be breaking the law. If you are prepared to do that for him knowing you are breaking the law, you also need to accept the consequences if you get caught. Perhaps it might be better if you go together and get some help to quit smoking you will be better off in the long run, and you will be doing your brother a great service, that is if you truly care about him. |
