Would you let police officers search your house without a warrant?

When I was in my late teens I stayed with my older brother. The police showed up one day and started hassling some friends of ours who had been loading a swing set into the back of a truck. In the house we were trying to figure out what was going on. My brother went outside and the police physically bulled him, making him walk backward as he kept telling them they could not enter the house. They threatened to shoot his dog, which was barking but not actively threatening anyone. They announced that everyone in the house was under arrest. They woke up my other brother and told him he was getting arrested and needed to get dressed.

Later I saw a report they wrote and it was the biggest pack of lies I had ever seen. They said we were "drunk on drugs in public" and put in details about us staggering around the front yard, including my brother who had been asleep in bed at the time.

I would not say that all police are bad, but I would not say they are all good either.

So the answer to your question is yes, because fighting them would create problems.

No. It was (and I still hope it still is) the right of every american citizen to deny illegal search and seizure to the 50. Even if you have nothing to hide, do you not still have the right to privacy? Sounds like a very republican community.

No. Even though I don't have anything to hide, I have the Constitutional right to require that the state have a warrant to go snooping around in my property.

No. Although I have absolutely nothing to hide, I would not let them in because it is illegal to search a house without a warrant, and police officers are supposed to uphold the law.

Nope I tell cops thru the door if they have no warrant they need to leave my property.NOW!Suspect what they want w/o a warrant I'm not going anywhere and not answering questions.I'm a firm believer in "Don't ask,Don't tell" policy.

if it was no inconvenience, then yes, i prob would have. they ARE allowed to ask, and since at 3 am it may be hard to get a judge to sign a warrant, and since if there IS a murder hiding on my property id rather them find him than me, why not. however, if they started tearing things apart they i would totally ask them to leave until they had a warrant.

they are allowed to ask, but the beauty is that im allowed to say no. and the list of suspects thing is no biggie, everyone is a suspect anyway, until they find the guy. innocent until PROVEN guilty, and asking for a warrant is no proof of guilt

If it helped the police scratch off a possible hiding place for a murderer then I wouldn't have a problem with it. For me, it has nothing at all to do with intimidation and everything with just doing the decent thing to help catch a criminal.

Let's put it ths way: If your child went missing and the neighbor down the road refused to let cops just look around the house or property, wouldn't that concern you or make you wonder why not?
