Right now, yes. I think all lives are precious. I'd put my life on the line even for an innocent animal. Now knowing them is a good thing in fact, cause it makes me not judge them.

The reason I said right now yes, is cause right now I'm single and no family to speak of really. If in years to come, I do have responsibility on my shoulders I doubt I'd be bold enough to do it. But as humans, we are supposed to be humane to each other, thats what a civilization is all about. So maybe if I do it today, some else will do it tomorrow.

Tough question. Maybe is the best I can do. I'd like to think I'd do the noble thing, but if none of the ten were competing with me to do it, I'd have to think about it.

No. My evolutionary instincts are not overwhelmed by socialistic thinking.

One time, a person did the same thing on 9/11they were running up, saving people while he was giving up his life and knew it.

I would do that because to sacrifice one life, to save ten. That is just worth it.

I would like to think so, but no one REALLY knows how they will act until they are actually in that situation. Everyone else is either lying or selling themselves short.

Self-preservation is a powerful thing. It takes a special kind of person to run into a burning building. I don't think I could do it. However, if it was my family then I think I could.

I would have a moral obligation to save them, however ethically speaking I wouldn't as per the other answer: I d/k who the folks are and d/k weather they're worthy of being saved/rescued or not. If the people I save turn out worthless dregs upon society than am I better off being burned by saving them?

Probably not, I mean why is their life more important. What if a person in there is a serial killer, a stupid person who then goes drunk driving and kills a family, etc. No way, not worth it. I don't wanna save the lives of someone who could be a rapist, torture animals, ruin peoples lives.

Is my life worth those 10? Depends on who you ask. Ask my mother, and the answer is pretty obvious.

Would I do it? Only if I knew I would be able to save them, and not just be number 11. But who really knows until the time comes. I'd probably sit there and analyze how to "best" go about it for so long that it would be too late.

No. What would my children do without a mother? That affect 3 ppl I do know and love. Not to mention my husband, parents, students and friends.

No, sorry burning people. From a utilitarian view, its the right choice. But from an independent will to survive perspective, I won't do it if my loss of life is PROMISED.
