Being as I had an idiot doing this almost hit me head on I think it is obvious. I also see others weaving back and forth in their lane while doing text.

Makes me think of the editoral in Houston Chronical yesterday about this very thing. Girl driving was upside down in her car texting and behind her were animals, pedestrians, cyclist, and autos that she had hit. She was texting OMG I don't understand y we can't txt. yll driving.

cuz it distracts u even more than talking on a phone...most pple look at there phone to txt so you cant see the road at the same time..that causes accidents so they made it illegal

Because you are more likely to wreck while txting then you are while drinking and driving or while be high and driving. You wanna know why? if you are drunk or high you are still attentive (even if its not much) and you are paying attention and still at least looking at the road. If you are about to get in a wreck while drunk or high you might be able to see the car in front of you and swirve off the road quick enough to not hit anyone or hurt yourself. If you are txting and driving you might as well be driving with your eyes closed because you are not even looking at the road at all what so ever! Besides what the hell is so important that you cant wait untill you get to where ever your going to finish a txt? if its that important why cant you pull over to the side of the road and finish?

Are you asking why it is illegal to text while you are driving. Are you from another country? I'm in the US, and it's illegal in many states because to text you take your eyes off the road. Maybe you are the only car on the road where you live, but around here people are killed every day by paying more attention to texting and not enough to driving.

The same reason it's illegal to drink and drive or to not wear prescribed glasses while driving. It impairs your ability to make the decisions you need to in a timely manner. When you are texting, even if you aren't looking at your phone, your mind is not on the road. I know you can do more than one thing at once but when singing along to your favorite song, texting your friend, and trying to drive anything could bump out in front of you or a car in front of you could stop. Because us cops get sick of scraping young kids off the road. I am not joking, this has happened plenty of times in my area. It just isn't worth it. Better safe than sorry. No, young kids aren't the only ones who do it, nor are they the only ones in accidents because of it, just the majority. No one that age should be getting zipped up in a body bag, there is way too much life to live yet!
