Yes or no: Do the marijuana smokers deserve to be treated like criminals?

anyone who thinks marijuana smokers should be treated like criminals is either ignorant to the positive and negative effects of the drug or is just ignorant. I have met and know many police officers who believe it should be legalized because it simply does not make people violent unlike alcohol and it does relieve many medical ailments. but why would your government pass a law enabling you to grow your own medication? don't you know they are making billions in the pharmaceutical business most of which can have severe to fatal side effects. enlighten yourselves , smoke a joint and watch a couple of documentaries on the topic one called " The Union, the business behind getting high" and the other called " American drug war: the last white hope" and tell me what you think, anxious to hear bout it.

No I don't cause I personally think marijuana should be decriminalized, I don't like seeing the pot smokers in jail cause alot of them are hard working people with families and marijuana is IMO nowhere near as dangerous as any other kind of drug (crack, cocaine, meth, heroin and PCP)

no marijuana has no more effect than alcohol (i don't smoke it) and i think its bull that its illegal

No, marijuana should be legalized.

Prohibition does not work, never has, never will. Prohibition simply increases the price of the prohibited commodity.

Time to grow up, stop legislating irrational beliefs to appease the right, and move forward. We have real, huge, problems to overcome. Pot smoking is not one of them.

NO.

I snicker every time a friend or I take a toke. It is my choice. The fact that some corrupt bureaucrats made a law has no effect on what I decide to do with my body.

In principle, they are breaking the law. So yes, they are criminals.
In principle, should marijuana be considered different form alcohol in a moral or legal standpoint? That is the question.

no. look at the violence, car crashes, and other problems alcohol causes. one is socially acceptable and one isn't. such a double standard.

no and I am not a smoker, they need to get people who are on drugs such as cocaine, crack, meth, oxycotin all those types of people harm others in some manner,as well as liquor, weed only makes people laugh and eat up every thing. but they can still hold a job, be trusted not to steal from you and just be normal, crack heads even give the homeless who often beg a bad name cause they beg too.

No, It needs to be legalized for a few reasons
1. It has medicinal purposes
2.It can be used for ethanol and not corn
3.People are going to use it, so why not tax it, we tax cigarrettes
4.With taxing it, the money does not go to drug cartels

gleakit
I don't think so.
Alcohol was, at one time prohibited, but then it was legalized, and they found that the quality became more controlled, and tax revenue raised, was a general help to the community.

Citicop
Well...

Since they ARE breaking the law...

...I'll have to go with yes.

.
Of course. Why would you think smoking marijuana is ok?
