You're running from the police and you fall, while you're down on the ground- you are tazed. Is this legal?
Find answers to your legal question.

You're running from the police and you fall, while you're down on the ground- you are tazed. Is this legal?

BACKLASH
Depends on what your actions appeared to be after you fell. Also other factors: A) what was your original crime (misdemeanor or felony)? B) did you have a weapon or give the impression you had one? C)Were you under the influence of any drugs or alcohol ?
D) Why were you running in the first place? E) Did you resist or give the impression you were resisting or had the intent to resist? Without knowing some other facts, it's hard to answer but in GENERAL, yes it was probably fully within department policy and thus legal.

Sheila E
Shouldn't have been running. Yes, it is legal to keep you down and not running again.

Why are you running from the police in the first place? I would consider myself lucky if I was dragged away from the incident tazed rather than shot or dead.

Yes it is legal.
The officer might have assumed that you were going to get up and start running again.

Yes, police can use tazers to disable fleeing suspects. It lessens the risk of injury to the police and bystanders if the person resisting arrest is rapidly subdued. If a fleeing suspect simply falls, the police have no reason to expect the suspect to stop his resistance.
Much better than having to use their firearms.

tttplttttt
Here's your first mistake, running from the police.
Cry me a river.

♥Fancy♥
If you are stupid enough to run from the cops in the first place, then yes you deserve to be tazed.

~Beats the hell out of a Glock to the brain, don't you think? No? I suppose you're right. In your case, too big a gun for such a tiny target.

jack jr
I'm not sure if its legal or not, but it sure sounds fair to me. Maybe you shouldn't be running from the police.

2wingo
Yes, if they have valid reason to believe that you're dangerous to yourself or to them while they're taking you into custody.

Running from the Police is not legal.

Artman
Yes it's legal. That way they prevent you from keep running. If the reson for your arrest was legal then they can use all the necesary non-lethal means to stop you and prevent you from keep on running.

Things would be different if they use a real gun for no reason, so thanks God they used a tazer.

MeinOH
What is "this" in your question? To run, fall or be tased?

No, it's not legal to run from the police. Yes, it's legal to fall.
Yes, it is legal to use non-lethal force to subdue you once you clumsily fall to the ground.

If you don't like that answer then - one, stop committing crimes so police have to chase you; second, when they do, surrender.

Taser is only 5 seconds, chemical pepper spray would've been a lot longer, bullet from Glock would have been permanent.

hell yes it is legal. you ran the first time and after being tazed you will not run the second time

Yes it is legal.
On first place you shouldn't be running from Police and if you are running then your options are very very limited.

No, the police should have to stop and allow the person to get up so that they can run again.

Some questions are so stupid, they defy logic.

bravozulu
I don't know why that would matter. If I were on the ground, I could still get up and move very fast.

chasin82003
of course.unless you got a witness

Sure cops can do anything they want to. They can shoot you if they want and plant a gun on you and theres nothing you can do about it. Cops lie all the time.
