I'd take the attache case to the police and tell them "I found this empty attache case!" |

Drug money? I'd keep it.
For real? I found £100 on the street last year and handed it in. I couldn't bear to think it might have been some little old lady's pension. It turned out to belong to a teenager, but he wrote me a lovely letter and bought me some chocolates so it was ok. |

Hand it over, if drug monet chances are it wont be claimed, then after 6 months it will be handed over to you as unclaimed |

If it's likely drug money, I'd hand it over to the cops. Call me paranoid, but taking the money can make you an easy accesory. In worst case you turn the money in, no one claims it and it's yours. |

I would not touch the case in the first place. How do I know its not the drivers?? He may decide to prosecute me for attempted theft!!!!!!!! |

Keep the money. I would give the cabby a big tip though. |

If there's I.D., I'd hand it in - if there's nothing in the case to indicate who's it is, then it's mine. |

I think my biggest fear would be retaliation from the criminals if they found out I had it. If I was absolutely certain that this would not happen I would for sure keep the money and donate it to charity. What good is it going to do sitting in a police station waiting for a few corrupt cops to slice some off the top and take a vacation with it?? (Okay so maybe I'd keep a little for myself and buy something nice). |

Keep it. |

I'd tip the driver heavily and enjoy my new attache case with lots of money. |

I'd hand it in. If there is no clear evidence this is connected to a crime and the money is unclaimed after a certain period of time (I can't remember offhand how long this is) then the money would be legally mine. And if, as you say, it's drug money, then it's not likely to be claimed; I'll have done the right thing and the dosh would be all mine! I wonder what the tax situation would be, though... |

I transfer the money to my bag and wipe my prints off the case. Also, pay the cab in cash. Then I funnel the money slowly as to not be noticed. $$$ I'm good to go. |

Assuming there was no ID in the case, I think I'd keep it-- |

First, have the driver go somewhere far from where I actually live, so it can't get back to me.
Then, keep a little and give the rest to charity, anonymously. |

I'd hand it in.
If it is drug money I want no part of it. And it is possible that the Police may just get some DNA from it.
It is gain bought from evil.
I'd rather starve. |

keep it!!!!!!!!!!!! most people would they just would not admit to it! and anyway there should not have been so careless as to leave it in the first place! |

It aint going to happen. Dream on. We all know what we would do though. But how big a tip would you give the taxi driver, to distract him, while you were sneaking the case out? I just saw some of the other answers - donate it to charity, hand it in -yeah right. |

Dont give it to the police they'll just keep it to them selves, 1st look for a hidden camera, then see if the driver is in on a gag (watch his eyes), run like **** at the next set of red lights, leaving £20 for the driver... LOL |

I enjoy questions like these. Make me go in to a dream land of what steps I might take hehe.
I'd pick up the case, and put it in my hand with my other stuff.. and act in a relaxed way so as not to give the taxi driver and cause to realize the case wasn't mine. Also I'd tell the taxi driver to continue to a new drop off point.. and get him to drop me off somewhere quiet and remote (where there would be no CCTV in case the real owner tried to track me down) |
