I leave the airport, get a taxi to go to a hotel at midnight because of it's cheap deal. I get out of the taxi, it speeds off leaving me at the hotel and I was there for 40 minutes waiting outside the lobby (locked) for a person at the counter to come. I tried yelling, banging on the door, calling the phone on the outside to reach the counter and even used the keys to tap on the windows (very loud). Nobody showed up! And even though I didn't make a reservation, there was a sign by the door that said "24 hour service" and I'm like hmmm, cant they stay true to their word? I took pictures of the sign, the front counter and the empty employee parking space on my cell phone. then I had to walk in pitch darkness to get to another hotel (40 bucks more).
I said all of the above in an email to some law firm that focuses on consumer protection/rights in the same county as the hotel. 3 days later and no response. A law firm not responding to the customer.
Hmm...lawsuit(s) or no?

You went to a hotel at midnight,with no reservation,
and let the cab leave, and now you think you have a valid lawsuit because no one answered the door. Sorry, you don't have a case. All the hotel has to say is that the night desk clerk got sick and called off, and they couldn't get a replacement. You would get laughed out of court.
My suggestion would be to get a hold of the hotel chain, and complain to customer service. You might get some comped rooms. Other than that, you have no grounds to sue. Sorry.

Further evidence that you have no case. They know this is not worth the time it would take to file. And, you cannot sue a law firm because they didn't call you back. They are not required to take a case if they don't want to. So, sorry again. No grounds to sue them, either. |

To prevail, you have to prove negligence (on their part) AND damages (to you). Your damages appear to be 40.00 - perhaps that is why the law firm is not calling you back. |
