My ex fiance bought me a ring for engagment, he broke up with me, and asked for ring back....I didnt give it back to him.
So my ex fiance decided to break up with me in the middle of my vacation the other day, and I was NOT expecting it.
He tried taking the ring off my finger, and he wont leave me alone,
and keeps bugging me to give "his" ring back.
But he gave this ring to me in April, and now its July!
I THREW the ring away in the river the same day he broke up with me, because I was so angry and sad and mad all at once, and I just tossed it as far as I could.
I was just wondering.......can he really "sue" me so he can try to take back something he has already given me?
ANY help would be appreciated thank you.

P.S. he is saying that he is going to press charges on me, and sue me in court....

Legally, it will come down to where you live. Some states consider who is at fault, but most do not and in fact, the majority of states view an engagement ring as a conditional gift that hinges on a marriage taking place. If the condition of the gift fails, or in the case if the engagement is called off, the gift has to be returned.
You will have to check state law where you live for a definitive answer on how it would be viewed. |

It was a gift. He cannot sue you for it. The only case where a ring must be given back is if the female does the breaking up. its gone, tell him to cry you a river. |
