I have been receiving phone calls from this number (1-267-337-6767) for about a month now. Its some indian guy claiming to be John Brown and he says that i owe money on a payday now loan that i never took out. He has a bunch of my personal information and i don't know how they got it. They even have my SSN and bank routing number, the only thing im hoping they don't have is my account number. I know i don't owe these people any money and i looked them up online and there is a bunch of complaints about them on the internet. What do i do to get them to stop? Can i file a law suit or something for harassment? Please Help!

There's not a lot you can do unfortunately. Just googling that phone number shows a lot of other people that have gotten these calls. Going to the police may make you feel better, but there isn't anything they can do. And everything you may think of to try to get them busted have probably been tried. It's very likely this guy is operating in another country, and US law enforcement has no jurisdiction outside the borders of the US.
One suggestion I kind of like is to get a whistle and leave it by the phone. Whenever he calls, blow the whistle as hard and loud as you can into the phone. After a couple times, he may not want his ear ringing from it any more and may stop calling. |
