my daughter is 6 months old i took to the hospital for a high fever and they put a catherter in her,ever since then shes been screaming alot and noticed just a few minutes ago that her little hole was much much bigger than usual what should i do?

The absolute first thing you need to do is see to the health and safety of your daughter. You need to seek medical attention to make sure that this is not just a normal reaction to the procedure. Don't be spending your time looking through the yellow pages for lawyers while your daughter is suffering.
Even if, after you see to her care, it appears they did something wrong it isn't likely you would recover more than your subsequent medical costs to correct the problem. Unless there is some severe permanent damage, and it just doesn't sound like it at this time.
So, get her taken care of first, then decide how to proceed based on the results of that. |

And your first response is how can you sue? Not how can I help my daughter, or who should I take my daughter to to feel better, but how can I rip someone off for money? I'm glad you aren't my mother. |

I am not a lawyer, but it sounds as if you really don't have grounds to sue. Try consulting a lawyer. As an aside, 'haft' is not a word. |

what type of catheter? one to put in her bladder or a chest tube or what? some catheters react in a way and its important to know what the catheter is actually suppose to be used for. shes probably screaming because its a strange place, and probably the fact that she is already in pain. on top of that they are doing tests on here that probably WILL hurt her....but i dont think that they are doing anything that is "wrongfull practice" so theres nothing to sue for. |

take her to a different doctor and find out what she is screaming all the time. have the look at her and document if they did anything wrong.
then talk to a malpractice lawyer. |

Step 1 isn't getting lawyers involved, it's consulting the doctors. Talk to them, and make them explain to you exactly what's going on and exactly what they're doing to fix it. If you're still worried about the treatment she's being given then you have the right to ask for a 2nd opinion (example: ask your normal pediatrician instead of the hospital's doctors).
Hopefully the answer is just as simple as: the catheter isn't very comfortable and your 6 month old just doesn't like it very much. |
