what exactly is a protection order & how do you go about getting it removed?

Apparently this happened 3 years ago and found out about it when traveling after having his passport checked in a foreign country. All is fine now, except I need to know how to get this protection order removed.

A protection order is commonly referred to as a "restraining order".

How to get it removed though, I'm clueless. I guess both parties would have to go back to court and have a judge lift it?
