10 Points first answer!!?

Okay, I have a job interview at a law firm tomorrow for a receptionist and I just have a couple of questions before I go. Please try to answer the best you can!
1. I don't have my GED but I will be getting it before the end of October. Do you think this will seriously hurt my chances?
2. I don't have previous experience in this field but I know that I can do it. Do you think this will hurt my chances?
3. I don't have my driver's license b/c I am scared to drive(whole other story) but I do have reliable transportation. Do you think this matters?
4.Do you have to have a paralegal degree in order to be a law firm receptionist? Additional Details Oh yeah, the ad said LAW FIRM RECEPTIONIST NEEDED WILL TRAIN. So I called today and they asked me to come in tomorrow for an interview. They haven't seen my resume yet so they don't know any of the things mentioned above.

Well it sounds like something impressed them on your resume, otherwise you would not have the interview.
Most employers want a diploma/GED, so that could hurt you.
If they are interviewing others who do have experience and you do not make a significant impression this will hurt you.
As long as you have transportation, that is all that matters.
You do not need a paralegal degree to be a receptionist. |

1. Yes. Will definitely hurt you.
2. No. Will not hurt you.
3. No. As long as you have another form of ID to prove citizenship.
4. No. Paralegal degree or any other type of degree is required to be a receptionist, but 99.9% of the time they require at least a GED.
Curious. How do you know you will be getting your GED by the end of October? If you received a letter that you passed and merely waiting to receive the diploma you can bring that letter, but as far as I know you receive the letter that you passed with the diploma at the same time. |

Can't stand this
|
1. Don't tell, act like you graduated they won't ask.
2. No, as long as you are exactly what they are looking for.
3. No, they don't know, and if asked do you have liable transportation say YES.
4. No you don't, it's a great position to get into b/c there is oppurtunity to grow within the firm. But make sure your very organized. |

1.) Don't tell them, if they don't ask you personally, just write you graduated or you received your GED they never check anyway.
2.)It's okay they said (WILL TRAIN), never doubt yourself I never used a switchboard for a operator job. And I got the job, Have Confidence in yourself.
3.) That does not matter they don't ask about that unless your going to be doing some driving around for them, job related. Then they will ask you about car Insurance. But other than that. It doesn't matter as long as your Dependable & Relaible.
4.) No, Why would you your the receptionist |

1. No, it shouldn't, especially because you'll be getting it in 5 weeks;
2. No experience is necessary in the legal field; however, have you answered phones before (in a non-legal field, and not your home or cell phone);
3. You won't need a driver's license or car; you'll be sitting at the front desk answering phones;
4. No.
Wear a nice suit - skirt suit if you're a girl; pants suit if you're a boy - and if you're a girl, a nice pair of nylons (law firms are conservative like that).
The interviewer may ask you about your lack of a HS diploma and you can explain it (but not too much detail, you don't want to look like you're not serious about the interview or the job). |
