2 week notice?
Find answers to your legal question.

2 week notice?

hey, i work in fast food and I want to put in my 2 weeks because I just turned 18 and there are better opprutunities that have opened up for me, but there are some certain issues that have been brought up about my work ethic and other negative things that a couple of managers have pointed out about me.

Well, I am afraid that if I tell my regional manager that i want to put in my 2 weeks notice, he will fire me right away because of the certain issues that are up in the air about me, and i dont want that to happen because I will be able to apply for this new job June 21. and i want the employer to know I am currently working because i heard thats what they like to see..

Im confused what should I do?
Additional Details
I dislike my job and i want to quit as soon as i can, but I want to show the new employer that im still employed when I apply..

since "i want the employer to know I am currently working because i heard thats what they like to see---",
It is better that you you put your resignation papers after you secure a job !!

Your best path is to stay with your job until you receive a better offer, then tell the new employer you can start in 2 weeks after you give notice, THEN give notice.

Just keep your mouth shut for now. Do the best you can at work, work hard, show up on time etc. etc. Then you apply for the new job, let them know you'll need to give the other job notice before you start and then quit.
You can always find a job that will pay comparable to what you are making now. If you don't get the job on the 21, try another one. It won't take long.

Don't tell anyone you want to give your notice until you have accepted a job offer from a new employer. That way, you'll still be employed when you go job searching and interviewing. Trust me, as tempting as it may be to tell the world you want to leave, it's better to keep it to yourself until you're really ready to leave your current employer. Also, your supervisor should be the first person to know you're leaving.

Good luck!

Have a chat w/your current employer, explain that your going to another job & giving 2 weeks notice. If he tells you that he has issues, maybe try to improve these issues in your final 2 weeks employment. If he fires you, just tell your new employer that he got mad, due to you giving your notice. Any real employer wouldn't mind if thats the case.

Good Luck...
