A company 'pulled' my credit report without my permission or signature. What, if any, is the penalty for this?
Find answers to your legal question.

A company 'pulled' my credit report without my permission or signature. What, if any, is the penalty for this?

I did not give my permission. They had enough personal information to get my credit pulled, did and started asking me questions about what they found on my credit report.

I felt violated.
Additional Details
I did not sing anything. They took some information, got a copy of my driver's license.

No signature was ever requested.

Did you fill out an application? If so, did you read the fine print? Most likely you did sign some sort of documentation allowing them to pull your credit report.

You are entitled to see the report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

It would be highly unusual for them to somehow have received enough of your information to run the report, and not have a document with your permission. The most likely scenario is you did give permission without realizing it.

There are different versions of credit reports that companies can look at. There are kinds that you don't need to give permission at all. I'm not sure if that's what they did, but it's very possible.
If that was the case, then there is no penalty since they broke no law.

Well, get used to it.
Companies have access to your credit, you don't have free access to your credit report and you have to pay for the "privilege" of accessing your own information, except once a year, when they "let you". So, any changes you won't know about, but banks, lending institutions, your place of employment, hospitals, collections, and virtually everybody else will know and they're not required to tell you squat.
They'll tell you you've bee accepted or denied but your rating you don't know.
It should be knowledge of each individual what their score is or if they don't want to supply you with the information, it shouldn't be compulsory to have it to acquire credit.
There are three major PRIVATE institutions, PRIVATE - not public, not government, and they have everybody by the balls.
