Being a lawyer is a great career. That legal education and law license allows a person to find work in a any type of business that they find interesting.

Law school is very tough. Just to get into law school you will need to get a good grade on the LSAT entrance exam and be selected into the school. Many law schools offer both day and evening division -- select the day. The day division will allow you the opportunity to work in a law firm during the summer. This experience is tops for being an attorney. Look at www.abanet.org

You will sacrifice time with friends and family in order to be successful in law school. Law school requires tons of study time and there is no way around that. You will feel that you have no personal life when you are in law school -- you will not have time for a personal life. For those three years everything needs to be put on hold for you to have a successful career.

Once you graduate and pass the bar you will probably continue to put in long hours at your work place. Do you sacrifice? Yes, you do, but you will make sacrifices for any career path. Being a lawyer is a very rewarding profession you can help people and still provide for your family.

Good luck.

from what I hear its a tough job. 2 of my brothers are lawyers. one of them quit being one about 12 years ago. he was up alot. and he did alot of 10 hr. days. then today he works for a place where law places call him up to look up stuff, for law firms. and get applications. etc.. my other brother is still a lawyer for a long lime. he makes ok $$. him & his wife are lawyers. they say sometimes that some people wont pay us.. then they have to get a collection agency after them. They take cheaper cases, not the expensive ones. So ya... it looks hard to do. Then the school, Then the peoples cases, which ones look ok? it looks risky.

You have to read a lot, in the school, when you finish some times you hate some things like corruption, also you always see the worst part of the society, like crime, and family problems. that is why I start to work on contracts in busines, so it is depends of what kind of law do you think to practice.. take a good decition, if you are lady it is better if you become a flight attendant LOL

I agree, law school is not that hard. The first year is time consuming, but as long as you put in the time, it's easy. The one negative part is that it can be expensive, but if you have a good under-grad GPA and score well on the LSAT, you may be able to get a scholarship.

As for the work that you do, there are a lot of possibilities, so you should be able to find something you like. If you go to a big law firm, you will make a lot of money and work a ton of hours. The good thing is, you can do a lot with the degree and after a few years of working a ton of hours you should be able to find something you really enjoy.

Ahh, Apple, FYI just about any real lawyer's gonna want to bill hours to answer any questions. So, unless you've posted a fat retainer...
They seem to've sacrificed many pollyanna ideals like justice, fairness, honesty. They're jaded by the systems that require the appearance of efficient perfection. And the money, too.

Law school is very easy but the practice is long hours and hard work.
