Try apprenticeships? Or while you are looking for a job why not take on more work experience placements and build up experience that way?

Try doing some temporary work, not necessarily in solicitors, to get some experience. Have you decided to work in conveyancing, or corporate, or something in particular?? I got round this by offering my services as a direct temp (no agency) to three or four local practices. I ended up snowed under with work!! Good luck.

Law is oversaturated with lawyers and now it appears paralegals/legal secretaries, too. Should go into the medical field, lots of jobs, lots of shortages, good pay. I have years of legal experience and the legal job market still stinks.

Here are some Ideas

1 - Most top legal firms are in big cities - so consider a move - you will never make real money in a small town anyway
2 - Leverage your college placement office
3 - Network Network Network - call every Attorney and Legal Secretary you know and let them know you are looking
4 - Start applying at every legal firm you can everywhere!

It was only 2 years ago, i myself finished a list of RSA qualifications, and along with NVQs to become an administrator.

The college i studied offered me work experience, but little to no advantage. Employers seemed unimpressed with the non-paid volunteery skills i have learnt.

It is now 2 years on, and im sorry to sound glum, i still am applying for jobs and being turned down - simply because of no work experience.

I think its the area i live in, like you i come from South wales, in fact i only live a short few miles off you. I really think the area is built far more snotty, they dont want to give people chances.

As far as the employers concerned if you choose education over employment as soon as you left school, then your in it... alone.

Sounds a step lower on the ladder, but seriously try for a cleaning job, often these require no experience.

I'm going through the same thing! Have you tried applying for secretarial positions at law firms or contacted a staffing company? They might be just the thing to get your foot in the door. Good Luck!!!
