Advice about work stress?
|
Well I joined the staff of a college to support adult classes as an assistant because I was hoping to get teaching work there. They put me there for a few years, but the last 2 years they put me in 16-19 year olds classes.
I always knew I couldn't do this, I am a sensitive person and not resilient to noise and behaviour issues all day. I am highly stressed and feel meltdown.
The person who initially interviewed me has retired now, so there is nobody the staff can ask to prove I only came to the college to work with the adults.
I have talked to the new senior staff, but I feel like I am always complaining I can't cope and they could get fed up with me.
Any advice? or any legal info about work stress? Additional Details p.s. I am looking for a new job, but not very many jobs around at the moment.

Stress is one of the leading causes of strokes and heart attacks and at the workplace we encounter
very stressful situations all the time but handling the situation is most important to dealing with
these stresses. Having some stress can help us to be more motivated but too much stress can overwhelm
us and actually make us less productive.
It is also important to understand that if you are under a lot of stress at work that it will carry
over into your personal life as well.
I would recommend to have look at great site, where you can benefit from some advice.
Cheers,

Make an appointment with your supervisor and flat out ask how do you move on to adult classes. |

Even if you could prove that you were originally hired just to work with adults, that doesn't mean they couldn't change to to a different group. Sorry, but your choices are to do the job you have been given, or quit. Working with teens can be a pain, but "I have to work with teenagers and am too sensitive for that" isn't going to make any kind of legal case for you. |
