Worked for three and half month, Full time, 44 hours a week. No written contract but he mention 21 paid holidays per year. So i am entitled to 6 days paid holiday(took 1 day). His excuse was i already took one paid holiday and that's all i'm getting.

Generally, if you leave employment you get paid for the last months work and not any holiday time you are still owed for that year (in my experience anyway).
Also, if you do not have a written contract then I don't think you are entitled to anything. Just because your employer "mentioned" 21 days holiday, doesn't mean anything unless its on paper. |

Providing that you worked your notice, if your emplyer asked yo to work a certain amount of notice, then your final pay should include earnings, and any remaining holidays you had accrued but not taken.
If he refuses to do this, it an unlawful deduction of wages. |

it looks like you don't have a leg to stand on if there was no written contract,when you go to work for anyone, you must always have it in writing, you trust no one these days. you could go to citizens advise its free and maybe they can get the money for you. its worth a try. best of luck. xxx |

No companies are not required to pay for holidays. Many companies, have however instituted a policy that says they will pay for certain observed holidays. So do you have any policy or documentation showing the policy? You may have been given it upon being hired. If this is a small business and he only said it verbally, then its your word against his. and the lawyer fees may cost more than the payment. Its obviously up to you what you'd like to do. If there are any lawyers out there maybe they can give you some free advice. |
