Am i being harassed at work?

I was working when my boss came up behind me and started yelling at me in front of all my co-workers. He asked me if i was stupid and if i knew how to do my job? Then when i apologized he told me to quit being a smart ***. I was very upset so i asked to go too the manager office and not to do this in front of everyone.When i went in there and told my supervisor what had happened he asked me why i wasn't doing my job right. i told him i had made a mistake and he started to yell at me i tried to explain but he wouldn't let me so that's why i came in here.So when it was all done they said if had been doing my job right this would have never happened. That is only one of the many times i have seen him do that to other people and several to me. He managed to come to work drunk and keep his job.

Yea. You have a right to be respected at work, and treating you like that shows no respect.

If your willing to, I'd take it up the "manager ladder" until you find someone who will listen. The only problem can be that some companies wont do anything about it, or they are possibly all the same. Depends on the industry you are in.

However, isnt it illegal to come to work intoxicated? He would have signed something when he first started with all that stuff in it.

I would not want to stay at a place like that. I would start to look for another job elsewhere, and go from there.

That more of a morale and quality issue to be honest if my boss ever yelled at me, oh but no, then again I work for a great guy. and I treat my employees good. Not sure where your working at but you need to find another job, or ask to be retrained if your going to stay there so you can do your job correctly.

Oh and him being drunk , you should have said something then its too late now to even bring it up its your word against his..

Sounds like it, but it does not sound like illegal harassment (at least by federal law in the USA).

Personally, I would start looking for a new job. Either you are going to continue being miserable or they are going to end up firing you so you might as well be proactive and start looking for another place you may be happier at (does not sound like you can get worse).

Oh boy. I would hate to be you. There is no reason on God's green earth for a boss to holler at an employee. If you were not doing your job right, he should have explained how to do it right in a calm voice. My husband and I have 7 employees and have never yelled at any of them or called them stupid. Honey, if he drinks , you must start looking for another job. It will not get better, only worse and it is apparent that you cannot take his kind of heat. He is the one who needs to get yelled at. Sorry !
