Am i in jeopardy job-wise?

i am a legal secy (NYC), employed, but seriously considering relocating to the atlanta area. i was wondering, with the economy being like it is, would i be jeopardizing myself by letting go the job i have in NYC & accepting a possible job offer in atlanta as a legal secy? i ask bcz of the economy. i wouldnt want to get out there only to be laid off .......

have you interviewed and been offered a job already? long term stability of company is something you should ask about in the interview - expect lower pay than you make in NYC

Well you'd be the best judge of that:

1) How long has the company in Atlanta been in business for?
2) Are you replacing someone or are they adding more employees?
3) Possible Job Offer - what does that mean? What are they waiting for to offer the job, are they trying to fit you in?
4) What is your position at the current company? Do you have any seniority over others in your same position?

I bring up these questions for a few reasons. But you need to realize that if you take a new job, you are at the bottom of the food chain (newest employee). So when or if it does come time to laying people off, then you will most likely be the 1st to go.

But also consider that your living expenses in Atlanta will be lower compared to NYC.

But the possible job offer sentence sounds sketchy. I'd make sure they can really afford to bring you on before you make a move like that.
