Am i required to work a notice?
Find answers to your legal question.

Am i required to work a notice?

i worked as a xmas temp in a shop for 3 four hour shifts. i now wish to leave, im under a 0 hour contract. do i need to work a notice?

Sarah T
I dont think so, because you are a temp you can choose when to terminate the contract, just as they can decided to terminate without notice. I never had to work notice as a temp but chose to.
Its always advisable to give notice as a temp though, even if its just a week, it gives them chance to find a replacement for you, gives you a little bit of extra money and increases your chances of getting a good reference from them for your next job.
Always helpful to leave a job with the possibility to go back if you ever need to

No you don't but if you don't then you may not get a positive reference from them, so it is a good idea to mention it to them.

no but it would be common courtesy and you may need a Reference at some point

John G
yes --it would not look good on your reference that you just walked out the door on the spot any future employer that does a check on you will be told and there is no way the will hire you if they think that you will just go when you want to and leave them short staffed

.
No...and since you only worked 3 shifts I doubt you would be putting this on your resume or using them as a reference. You are a temp and they would not likely give you any notice. You do not need to give them notice. This is a courtesy you may wish to extend but do not feel obligated. They were looking for someone when they found you. No big deal.
