Hi,
My company normally does an Annual Appraisal and Pay Review in December.
Is my company legally obilged to increase my pay in line with inflation.
What is the current inflation percent that my pay should go up?

No, there is no obligation on an employer to give any sort of pay rise unless this is stated in your employment contract.

Government figures say that inflation is running at about 5.5%, that said if you just took into account gas,electric, food petrol and other general living costs the figure is nearer 14%.
Companies can increase what they want or none at all, it is not legally obliged to give a pay rise, back in the olden days we used to have things called unions, If the pay-rise wasn't any good, we could go on strike until a better offer was put on the table, these days the employers have the employees over a barrel. |

There is no legal requirement for annual pay rises. And with the current economic climate where lots of companies are putting people on short time or making redundancies, I won't be surprised if we don;t get our annual rise this year.
The written statement of the terms of your employment may say that there will be an annual pay review, but pay review does not automatically mean pay rise. |

No, they're not obliged to do this, unless it is specifically stated in your contract (which would be very unusual). They only have to pay you what it says in your contract. However, they do need to be fair and treat you consistently with other employees. |

No, they have no legal requirement to EVER give raises as long as you are making at least minimum wage. |
